O projeto Cinturão Rural, idealizado pela 7ª Região de Polícia Militar em Divinópolis, conquistou o 1º lugar do prêmio de “Boas práticas de emprego operacional” da Polícia Militar de Minas Gerais. O programa foi selecionado dentre quase 50 enviados pelas Unidades de Direção Intermediária (UDIs) e Diretorias de todo Estado.
A premiação foi realizada na última sexta-feira (21), durante um evento do Comando de Policiamento de Meio Ambiente. O capitão Thiago de Paula Faria (Chefe da Seção de emprego operacional da 7° RPM), recebeu o prêmio das mãos do Comandante Geral da PMMG, Coronel Rodrigo Sousa Rodrigues.
O projeto foi lançado oficialmente em Divinópolis no dia 24 de setembro de 2021 e contou com a participação de várias autoridades políticas da região. No dia 1º de junho deste ano, durante a 50° Divinaexpô, o Comandante Geral assinou uma diretriz de Policiamento Rural para todo o Estado, tendo como base o projeto da 7ª RPM.
Em nota, o Comandante da Sétima Região, Coronel Wemerson Lino Pimenta, agradeceu ao Comando Geral da instituição pelo reconhecimento e pela premiação, e reafirmou o compromisso de prestar o melhor serviço de segurança pública para a população do Centro-Oeste.

O Projeto Cinturão Rural foi idealizado com o intuito de potencializar a segurança para o homem do campo e as atividades nele desenvolvidas. Para elaborar o programa seguindo as diretrizes do Governo do Estado e do Comando-Geral da instituição, a 7ª RPM realizou um estudo de setorização de toda sua área, que abriga 50 municípios e 40 distritos. Foram identificadas e mapeadas as zonas rurais, criando rotas e itinerários baseados nos estudos do fenômeno do crime, criando uma malha protetora. Foram destinados recursos para a digitalização da rede de rádio e o Comando-Geral possibilitou a reconvocação de policiais militares para comporem as Patrulhas Rurais.
