O Ministério de Minas e Energia (MME) avaliou não ser necessário, por enquanto, a implantação do Horário de Verão em 2023. “Em virtude do planejamento seguro implantado pelo ministério desde os primeiros meses do governo, os dados não apontam, até o momento, para nenhuma necessidade de implementação do horário de verão”, disse a pasta, em nota.
Segundo o Operador Nacional do Sistema Elétrico (ONS), os níveis de Energia Armazenada nos reservatórios devem se manter acima de 70% em setembro nas regiões Sul, Norte, Sudeste e Centro-Oeste, representando estabilidade no sistema. O ONS também ressalta que o período tipicamente seco está próximo do seu encerramento.
Criado em 1931, o horário de verão foi extinto pelo governo federal em 2019, com base em estudos que apontaram a pouca efetividade na economia energética. O governo da época também se baseou em estudos da área da saúde sobre os impactos da mudança no relógio biológico das pessoas.
Quando foi criado, o adiantamento do relógio em uma hora entre os meses de outubro e fevereiro tinha por objetivo reduzir o consumo de energia elétrica durante o horário de pico, que costumava ser em torno das 18h, e trazer economia de energia com maior utilização da iluminação natural. No entanto, nos últimos anos, o Ministério de Minas e Energia constatou mudanças no horário de pico, com maior consumo de energia no período da tarde, principalmente devido à intensificação do uso de aparelhos de ar condicionado.
