O Centro de Controle de Zoonoses de Nova Serrana (CCZ) realizou em todo o município, entre os dias 31 de julho e 6 de setembro, a campanha de vacinação animal. Neste período, aproximadamente dez mil animais foram imunizados contra a raiva.
A campanha de vacinação antirrábica em cães e gatos, que contou com uma grande equipe de profissionais do CCZ, de voluntários e de estudantes de Veterinária da região, iniciou-se pelas fazendas e comunidades rurais ainda no final de julho.
O ponto alto da campanha se deu no sábado, 26 de agosto (dia escolhido para a vacinação na zona urbana), quando foram disponibilizados 28 postos de vacinação, distribuídos estrategicamente pelos bairros da cidade.
Entre os voluntários que colaboraram para o sucesso da extensa campanha, estiveram alunos do curso de Medicina Veterinária da faculdade UNA-Bom Despacho, agentes do CCZ, agentes das vigilâncias Sanitária e Epidemiológica.
Baixa adesão
No total, foram vacinados 8.674 cães e 1.149 gatos. Todavia, segundo o coordenador do Centro de Controle de Zoonoses, Emerson Evangelista, o número de animais domésticos no município é superior aos dez mil vacinados. Por isso, reforça a todos que, por qualquer motivo, não tenham vacinado os seus pets, que procurem o Centro de Controle de Zoonoses.
Ainda há no local, várias doses da vacina. Os imunizantes estarão disponíveis no CCZ, enquanto durar o estoque.
