O presidente da FIEMG, Flávio Roscoe, se reuniu nesta terça-feira (16/7) com o novo cônsul do Uruguai em Minas Gerais, Luís Darío Ávila Mendina, que assumiu o cargo em 1º de março. Antes, ele fez parte da Diretoria de Assuntos Econômicos Internacionais do Ministério das Relações Exteriores uruguaio.
O encontro teve o objetivo de estreitar a relação comercial entre a indústria de Minas Gerais e o governo do Uruguai. Roscoe acredita que as economias dos dois países têm aspectos em comum, especialmente na produção agropecuária, e outros complementares que podem avançar. Com uma população de cerca de 3,5 milhões de habitantes, o país faz fronteira com o Brasil e tem como destaque na indústria a produção de máquinas elétricas, equipamentos de transporte, produtos petrolíferos, têxteis, químicos, bebidas e processamento de alimentos.
A FIEMG está apoiando a missão do governo de Minas Gerais para o Uruguai, que vai acontecer de 29 a 31 de julho deste ano. A viagem tem como foco o setor calçadista e conta com a parceria do Sindicato Intermunicipal das Indústrias de Calçados de Nova Serrana (Sindinova). A programação no país vizinho inclui seminário, rodadas de negócios e visitas técnicas em centros comerciais. A reunião teve a participação da gerente do CIN, Rebecca Macedo.
Dados apurados pelo Centro Internacional de Negócios (CIN) da FIEMG mostram que, em 2023, as exportações de Minas Gerais para o Uruguai somaram US$161 milhões e as importações, US$178,6 mi. Os produtos mais vendidos foram caminhões de carga, veículos, carne suína e ração para animais.
