O Comitê de Política Monetária do Banco Central (Copom) decidiu, por unanimidade, nesta quarta-feira (31) manter a taxa Selic, os juros básicos da economia, em 10,5% ao ano.
Na reunião anterior, em junho, o Copom interrompeu o ciclo de cortes de juros iniciado há quase um ano. De agosto do ano passado até março deste ano, o Copom tinha reduzido os juros básicos em 0,5 ponto percentual a cada reunião. Em maio, a taxa tinha sido cortada em 0,25 ponto percentual.
Em nota, o Copom explicou que a decisão foi motivada pelo ambiente externo adverso e pelo conjunto dos indicadores de atividade econômica e do mercado de trabalho doméstico que seguem apresentando dinamismo maior do que o esperado.
A decisão, de acordo com o comitê, teve como objetivo consolidar o processo de desinflação. “A política monetária deve se manter contracionista por tempo suficiente em patamar que consolide não apenas o processo de desinflação como também a ancoragem das expectativas em torno da meta”, diz.
O Comitê diz que se manterá vigilante e relembra que eventuais ajustes futuros na taxa de juros serão ditados pelo firme compromisso de convergência da inflação à meta.
Inflação
A Selic é o principal instrumento do Banco Central para manter sob controle a inflação oficial, medida pelo Índice Nacional de Preços ao Consumidor Amplo (IPCA). Em junho, o IPCA teve alta de 0,21%, ficando abaixo da taxa registrada em maio (0,46%).
No ano, o IPCA acumula alta de 2,48% e no acumulado dos últimos 12 meses, a taxa é de 4,23%, acima dos 3,93% observados nos 12 meses anteriores.
Para 2024, o Conselho Monetário Nacional (CMN) fixou meta de inflação em 3%, com margem de tolerância de 1,5 ponto percentual para cima ou para baixo. (COM AGÊNCIA BRASIL)
