A Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa) proibiu a utilização de duas substâncias que podem estar presentes em produtos usados para fazer unhas ou esmaltação em gel, que precisam ser expostos à luz ultravioleta ou LED. As substâncias são o TPO (óxido de difenil [2,4,6-trimetilbenzol] fosfina) e o DMPT (N,N-dimetil-p-toluidina), também conhecido como dimetiltolilamina (DMTA).
O objetivo é proteger a saúde das pessoas que utilizam esses produtos e principalmente dos profissionais que trabalham com eles. Segundo a Anvisa, o DMPT pode causar câncer em humanos e o TPO é tóxico para a reprodução e pode prejudicar a fertilidade. “Com a decisão, o Brasil se alinha aos padrões de segurança da União Europeia, que também baniu recentemente esses ingredientes. A medida impede que produtos considerados inseguros em outros países sejam comercializados aqui. A proibição das duas substâncias se aplica a qualquer produto cosmético”, diz a agência em nota.
Segundo a resolução, a fabricação, a importação e a concessão de novos registros ou notificações para produtos que contenham TPO ou DMPT estão proibidas imediatamente. No comércio, as empresas e estabelecimentos têm 90 dias para parar de vender ou utilizar os produtos que já estão no mercado.
Após esse prazo, todos os registros e notificações desses produtos serão cancelados pela Anvisa. As empresas responsáveis deverão realizar o recolhimento daqueles que ainda estiverem em lojas e distribuidoras. “Ainda que o risco ocupacional seja mais intenso, usuárias e usuários também estão sujeitos aos efeitos nocivos decorrentes da exposição, reforçando sua dimensão social. Diante desse cenário, é dever do Estado atuar preventivamente, evitando a perpetuação de risco sabidamente evitável”, afirmou a relatora da norma, a diretora Daniela Marreco.
Ela reforçou ainda que os eventos adversos dessas substâncias estão, em geral, associados a exposições repetidas e prolongadas, de modo que contatos ocasionais ou pouco frequentes representam risco significativamente menor. “Contudo, não afasta a necessidade de uma medida tempestiva de proibição dessas substâncias, cumprindo nosso papel de proteção da saúde com a edição da medida de precaução ora proposta”, disse.
