A Câmara Municipal de Nova Serrana aprovou nesta semana o Projeto de Resolução 004/2021 e, através dele, foi instituída a Medalha Ruy Borborema com a finalidade de prestar homenagem por mérito esportivo e agraciar grandes desportistas, equipes e atletas do passado, além de empresas e instituições que valorizam o esporte local. A medalha será concedida anualmente pelo Legislativo Municipal em data a ser definida posteriormente, quando o cenário de enfrentamento à pandemia estiver favorável à realização de eventos.
De acordo com o projeto, a medalha que também tem o objetivo de incentivar a prática esportiva e o apoio às atividades relacionadas ao esporte, será entregue anualmente em três modalidades. 1) Legado desportivo: para pessoas físicas ou jurídicas que tenham se destacado pela notável contribuição para o esporte no município de Nova Serrana; 2) Reconhecimento esportivo: para atletas, técnicos ou dirigentes em atuação e que estejam proporcionando reconhecida contribuição para o desenvolvimento do esporte local, inclusive na modalidade amadora; 3) Destaque esportivo: para equipes ou atletas domiciliados em Nova Serrana e que tenham se destacado em eventos regionais, estaduais, nacionais ou internacionais.
Cada um dos parlamentares poderão indicar um homenageado a cada uma das categorias. Haverá um processo de escolha ou votação (por votação popular e consolidado geral) e um de cada categoria será agraciado com a Medalha Ruy Borborema, os demais indicados receberão o Certificado de Mérito Esportivo.
A proposta da Medalha Ruy Borborema é de autoria dos vereadores da Mesa Diretora, Guilherme Tinik (Avante), Cabral (SDD), Dete do Katôco (Avante), Cleiton Surf Star (PSC) e também do vereador Willian Barcelos (PTB).
Também foi incluída por meio de uma emenda de autoria dos vereadores Zé Faquinha (MDB) e Willian Barcelos (PTB) a proposta de que a Câmara concederá uma medalha póstuma a atleta ou desportista falecido.
