    CLOROQUINA NÃO FUNCIONA CONTRA COVID-19 E PODE CAUSAR EFEITO ADVERSO, DIZ OMS

    A Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) publicou uma diretriz na qual pede fortemente que a hidroxicloroquina não seja usada como tratamento preventivo da Covid-19. O documento foi divulgado ontem (1°) na revista científica “The BMJ”.
    A recomendação é feita por um painel de especialistas internacionais do Grupo de Desenvolvimento de Diretrizes da OMS (GDG).
    Desde julho do ano passado, a organização informa que não tem encontrado benefícios no uso do antimalárico contra o coronavírus. Desta vez, a conclusão passa a ser uma orientação concreta e oficial para os países e profissionais de saúde.
    Esta forte recomendação é baseada em seis estudos clínicos com evidências de alto nível. Juntos, eles somaram mais de 6 mil participantes e confirmaram que o medicamento não é eficiente na prevenção contra a doença. Além disso:
    – Evidências de alta certeza (que dificilmente mudarão com a publicação de novos estudos) apontam que a hidroxicloroquina não tem efeito significativo na prevenção de hospitalização e morte devido à Covid-19;
    – O antimalárico também não teve efeito em evitar a infecção pelo Sars CoV-2, com evidências classificadas como moderadas (estudos clínicos com leves limitações e estudos observacionais bem delineados e com achados consistentes).
    “Neste caso, a hidroxicloroquina não teve nenhuma melhora nem nos pacientes leves a moderados, nem nos hospitalizados. E ela aumentou, provavelmente, os efeitos adversos, que levaram inclusive à descontinuação” – Ethel Maciel, pós-doutora em epidemiologia.
    A OMS também pede que as pesquisas com a hidroxicloroquina como prescrição para a Covid-19 não sejam prioridade. O painel avalia que é importante concentrar esforços financeiros em medicamentos com mais chance de combater o coronavírus.
    No Brasil, o medicamento chegou a ser recomendado como um dos integrantes do ‘Kit Covid’, voltado ao suposto “tratamento precoce” da doença.
    A droga foi prescrita por médicos brasileiros apesar de estudos científicos não apontarem benefícios e alertarem para riscos associados ao uso. Um levantamento do Conselho Federal de Farmácia mostrou que a venda do antimalárico nas farmácias mais que dobrou, passando de 963 mil em 2019 para 2 milhões de unidades em 2020.
