O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defendeu que a faixa de isenção do Imposto de Renda da Pessoa Física (IPRF) seja ainda maior do que a dos R$ 5 mil prometidos para seu governo durante a campanha presidencial. Segundo Lula, a ampliação dessa faixa vai muito além de um compromisso de campanha. “É um compromisso de justiça”, disse o presidente ao afirmar que isso será possível a partir da taxação dos super ricos.
“Você não pode fazer com que as pessoas que ganham R$ 5 mil paguem imposto de renda, enquanto quem tem ações da Petrobras e recebe R$ 45 bilhões de dividendos não pague imposto de renda”, disse o presidente durante entrevista à Rádio O Povo, em Fortaleza.
Entre os argumentos apresentados pelo presidente está o fato de os trabalhadores pagarem proporcionalmente mais impostos do que os ricos. Ele, no entanto, frisou que este é um debate que tem de ser feito de forma transparente e aberta ao público, e que as pessoas têm de saber quem paga o que, e quanto se paga em impostos.
“É isso o que falta nesse país”, disse o presidente. “Não se pode cobrar 27% ou 15% de um trabalhador que ganha R$ 4 mil, e deixar os caras que recebem [muito mais], sem pagar. O que queremos é isentar aquelas pessoas [que ganham] até R$ 5 mil e, no futuro, isentar mais porque, na minha cabeça, salário não é renda. Renda quem tem é o cara que vive de especulação”, acrescentou.
