O consumo de eletricidade do país aumentou 7,3% no primeiro trimestre de 2024 na comparação com o mesmo período do ano passado. O maior índice de aumento, 12,3%, foi na classe residencial. As classes comercial e industrial também tiveram expansão relevante, de 8,4% e 3,8%, respectivamente.
Os dados constam do Boletim Trimestral de Consumo de Eletricidade da Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE).
De janeiro a março deste ano, o consumo de energia elétrica da classe comercial atingiu o maior valor trimestral desde o início da série histórica da EPE em 2004: 26.942 Gwh e superou o recorde registrado no último trimestre do ano passado. A taxa de consumo de eletricidade da classe cresceu 8,4% nos três primeiros meses do ano em comparação com o mesmo trimestre de 2023.
O desempenho positivo do setor de comércio e serviços e o calor e as altas temperaturas no país estimularam o aumento do consumo no primeiro trimestre de 2024.
O consumo de energia elétrica das residências no país foi de 46.242 Gwh no primeiro trimestre de 2024, alta de 12,3% na comparação a igual período de 2023. Foi o maior valor de energia elétrica consumida pela classe num trimestre desde o início da série histórica em 2004, superando o recorde do trimestre anterior.
A alta do consumo de energia elétrica da classe residencial no primeiro trimestre do ano foi, em grande parte, motivada pelas ondas de calor e pelas temperaturas acima da média. Além disso, o aumento da posse de equipamentos de refrigeração desde o segundo semestre do ano passado, a elevação do número de consumidores residenciais e a melhora dos indicadores macroeconômicos como emprego e renda também favoreceram o crescimento do consumo da classe.
