EL NIÑO E ALTAS TEMPERATURAS FAVORECEM AUMENTO DE CASOS DE DENGUE

As alterações climáticas provocadas pelo fenômeno conhecido como El Niño contribuem para infestações por Aedes aegypti e para a explosão de casos de dengue registrada no Brasil. Isso porque a combinação de altas temperaturas e chuvas intermitentes é a receita perfeita para a proliferação do mosquito.

 

O infectologista graduado pela Universidade Federal da Bahia e descobridor do vírus Zika no Brasil, o médico Antonio Carlos Bandeira explicou que um corredor climático que sai do Centro-Oeste e desce pela porção oeste das regiões Sudeste e Sul acaba por contribuir para o aumento de casos da dengue não só no Brasil, mas em países vizinhos como Paraguai e Argentina. “Isso facilitou. Fez com que o Aedes aegypti pudesse ser disseminado. É isso que faz com que a coisa se complique. Você tem esse corredor de calor, e ele fica oscilando, com muita precipitação pluviométrica, de forma intensiva. Isso facilitou demais. Calor e muita chuva intermitente são a combinação principal para a dengue”, disse. “O Aedes aegypti se reproduz mais rápido e vive mais quanto mais elevada é a temperatura. A situação é essa. Ele vive mais e se multiplica mais.”

 

Para o consultor da Organização Pan-Americana da Saúde (Opas) para dengue, infectologista Kleber Luz, detalha que o El Niño, de fato, contribui para o aumento do número de casos da doença, uma vez que eleva a temperatura do mar e, consequentemente, do continente. “Quando aumenta a temperatura, aumenta o número de mosquitos, a reprodutibilidade e o tempo de vida deles. Cada mosquito vai viver mais tempo, aumentando a chance de transmissão. Com as mudanças climáticas, quanto mais alta a temperatura, maior a proliferação do mosquito” conclui. (COM AGÊNCIA BRASIL)
