O Governo de Minas, por meio da Secretaria de Estado de Saúde de Minas Gerais-MG (SES-MG), disponibilizou aos municípios cerca de quatro milhões de doses da vacina antirrábica animal para a campanha de 2023, que vai ocorrer entre os meses de agosto e setembro. Em 2021, a cobertura vacinal canina foi de 94%. A felina foi de 103% – considerando animais em trânsito (de outros estados que estavam no território durante a campanha) ou que tomam mais de uma dose -, num total de 4.028.810 animais vacinados. Já em 2022, 88% da população canina e 91% da felina receberam a vacina, com 3.877.802 animais imunizados.
A raiva, também chamada de hidrofobia, é uma doença provocada por um vírus do gênero Lyssavirus que causa grande inchaço do cérebro e compromete o sistema nervoso central. É uma doença contagiosa considerada grave, com alto nível de letalidade. A contaminação por raiva humana ocorre quando a pessoa é mordida, lambida ou mesmo arranhada por animais infectados, principalmente gatos, cachorros e morcegos. A melhor forma de prevenir a difusão dessa zoonose é a vacinação. Por isso, os animais domésticos (cães e gatos), a partir dos três meses, devem ser vacinados pelo menos uma vez por ano.
Sintomas
Todo cão e gato que apresentar mudança brusca de comportamento ou sinais e sintomas compatíveis com a raiva, tais como salivação abundante, dificuldade para engolir, alteração nos hábitos alimentares e paralisia, é considerado suspeito e deve ser levado ao veterinário.
Em caso de agressão por cães, gatos ou outros animais, a pessoa exposta deve lavar o ferimento abundantemente com água e sabão, o mais rápido possível, aplicar produto antisséptico e procurar imediatamente assistência médica.
Em 2022, Minas Gerais registrou um caso de raiva em cão e um em gato. Em 2023, até 30/6, não havia registro de ocorrência em cães e gatos. Já entre humanos, foram quatro casos em 2022 e um caso em 2023, até o momento, todos com evolução a óbito. (COM AGÊNCIA MINAS)
