  23. What do pop star Lily Allen, Olympic gold medal-winning diver Jack Laugher, tennis
player Nick Kyrgios and 25-year-old Bonnie Blue from Nottingham, who has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of
18-year-old students (and sometimes their dads, too), all have in common?

Yes, you guessed it. They are all ‘creatives’ on OnlyFans, the adults-only online content provider founded in 2016 by
a young Essex businessman called Tim Stokely, which is
now one of the most visited (and lucrative) websites in the world.

Just last month, Lily Allen caused a stir by revealing that she makes more money
charging $10 (£8) – the site works in dollars
    – for pictures of her feet on her OnlyFans account labelled ‘La
Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify.

But Lily’s content is tame in comparison to much of the content on the
site, the sort company execs refer to as ‘spicy’. Everything from cheeky shots
of bottoms peeking out of bubble baths, blondes stirring vats of
steaming pasta in G-strings, hot men waxing cars in their pants,
right through the sex spectrum to twosomes, threesomes,
    sixsomes and hardcore pornographic videos.

But also because, thanks to the allure of OnlyFans and the astonishing sums that a teeny number
of the platform’s 4.1million creatives are raking in, more and more young women (and it is mostly young
women) who would never have considered it before are suddenly happy to join in and sell photos of,
well, pretty much anything, to pay rent, settle credit card bills or splash out on nice holidays.

Basically, a flashier life all round.

‘We feel empowered. We have agency. It’s completely
up to me if I take my top off or not,’ says one 21-year-old girl, who joined a year ago and
makes enough in a week to cover a year’s student rent at Sheffield University and prefers not to give
    her name.

‘And I am happy to do it because for once I
make the rules, in the safety of my home and they’re paying me to do it.
It’s a mug’s game, but I am not the mug.’

For the benefit of those readers who are not among the site’s 305million users,
OnlyFans offers creators a platform where they can charge their fans a
subscription fee ranging from $4.99 to $49.99 a month to
look at their content, contact them (or more often access their
‘chatter’ – more of which later) and access often more explicit,
personalised, ‘à la carte’ content through ‘tips’.

OnlyFans model Bonnie Blue has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-olds

Rapper Cardi B is said to make $9million (£7.1million) a month from the site

Actress Bella Thorne, a former Disney child star, made a record-breaking $1million (£800,000)
    in 24 hours

‘Pay $10 to unlock this video’. ‘Click here for more spicy content’.
‘The more you pay, the more you see’. You get the gist.

In 2023, the site generated a record $6.6billion (£5.2billion), of which the company
takes a straight 20 per cent – much less than YouTube
    – and the rest goes to the ‘performers’.

It is unlike Instagram or other social media sites in that nothing is suggested – instead, you
have to search for, and then subscribe to, individual accounts to see much more than profile pictures.

Which is a good thing, because while some of the content is anodyne, much is highly sexual and many people on the site can bob freely from one to another.
Perhaps a cookery hack one day, modelling new boots the next, then graduate to a few cheeky cleavage and bikini shots and
more, as the money becomes more tempting.

Every week, it seems, we hear of someone who has made millions.

Last month it was announced that American influencer Corinna Kopf had retired from the site, aged 28, after making $67million (£53million).
In her best month, she reportedly earned more than $2million (£1.6million).

Rapper Cardi B is said to earn more than $9million (£7.1million)
    a month from the site.

Meanwhile, Darcie Rattles was an out-of-work bricklayer with £6,000 in credit
card bills and debts when she joined OnlyFans in 2022.

‘I was thinking: how the hell am I going to get to next week?
How am I going to pay my credit cards?’ she says in an online interview.
‘I’m young, I’ve got a good body and I’ve got a lot of followers.

It is what any girl would turn to. It had been in the back of mind for two years, but
    then I did it.’

Within two days of launching, she had earned enough to pay off her debts.
Today, Darcie, who comes across as likeable, down-to-earth and has no qualms about
what she shares, claims to earn more than £250,000
    a year.

Pop singer Lily Allen has discovered a niche market…

… she sells pictures of her feet for £8 and makes more
money from her account labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her
    7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify

‘It doesn’t matter to me whether I get my feet out, or my other
    bits out,’ she says.

Though it does tend to be the other bits, because Darcie’s
content promises very few clothes and, for those who
pay extra, ‘a naughty side to me you’ve never seen before’.

But even Darcie seems like the girl next door compared to Lily Phillips,
a British model who earned £2,000 in her first 24 hours on the site and
recently went viral for sleeping with 101 men over a 14-hour period.
She has since announced she is planning to set a record
of having sex with 1,000 men in 24 hours.

And Bonnie Blue, a beautiful blonde with a golden tan and astonishingly white teeth, who has
worked her way round Derby, Nottingham, Cancun and Australia, sleeping with university students.

On one night during Nottingham Trent freshers’ week – after publicising
her stunt by wearing a sandwich board that read: ‘Bonk me for
free and let me film it’ – she had boys queuing up from
6pm until five in the morning.

‘I got through them all,’ she said proudly in one interview in which she reminds us that, thanks to OnlyFans, she has already banked more than £3
million – for which she was applauded by her followers for
    her entrepreneurship.

But all that is chicken feed when you consider the £370 million dividend
that company owner paid himself last year.

And these days that’s Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a majority stake from Tim Stokely in 2018, two years after he started the business with the help
of a loan from his father.

It was the Covid-era lockdowns that thrust OnlyFans into the stratosphere.
Everyone shut up at home, nothing to do.

In 2020, it generated revenues of $2.23billion (£1.8billion).
By 2021, it was up to $4.8billion (£3.8billion). There
was a brief hiatus in October of that year when they tried banning
sexually explicit content but that lasted about ten minutes before they switched back.

There have been plenty of scandals along the way. A BBC investigation back in 2021 revealed that children were not just
accessing the material online by foxing the age verification process but
were also selling explicit videos on the website. Leah, 17, had used a fake driving licence to
set up an OnlyFans account where she made £5,000 uploading revealing videos of herself.

There have also been claims of OnlyFans creators using public gyms
and spaces to make adult content.

Recently there has been more concerns that the company is not doing enough to
    protect minors.

OnlyFans, however, prefers to portray itself as a force for good,
with supporters arguing that it empowers people by allowing them to sell content – over which they
have full control – directly to consumers. And many of the Gen Z generation seem to
agree. ‘It’s fine. It’s empowering. It’s taking control,
‘ they cry, pointing out that the site has loads of moderators and a tight security system to ensure that all users are over 18.

And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn’t just about sex.

Of course, they’re right. It has long been awash with pneumatic reality TV stars and the likes of Lottie Moss, Kerry Katona and Katie Price, who are
happy to tease their followers with a few cheeky peeks in skimpy bikinis.

I spend an afternoon browsing the site and, while it is not all ‘spicy’ content as
the company executives like to call it, everything
is dripping with sauce and promise.

The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish chef is holding her paella pan. Company executives have been pushing hard to make the platform more mainstream – offering contracts and financial incentives
to encourage musicians, sports stars, cooks,
anyone really, to come on and share a bit of exclusive – or niche –
    content.

Really, anything that people will pay to look at – glimpses backstage at concerts.
    Celebrities in the bath.

During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of athletes jumped
on the OnlyFans bandwagon to share pictures of their beautifully toned
    bodies.

Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses the
site to share ‘exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries, including artistic portrayals
of nudity’ for $14.99 a month. British speedskater

Olympic diver Jack Laugher is among a number of sports stars using OnlyFans

Reality TV star Kerry Katona has also teased followers with content

Lottie Moss  has also taken to the adults-only online content provider that was founded in 2016 and is used by 4.1 million creatives

Elise Christie turned to the site when she found herself in financial difficulties.

All of which seems to be working well for them, but it can be rather murkier for others.

Not least because, in less than a decade,
OnlyFans has spawned an entire support industry of ‘sugar
daddies’ who support performers financially and ‘chatters’ who work for them.

‘Sugar daddies’ tend to be older male businessmen who ‘invest’ in promising creatives.
In what are referred to rather murkily as ‘mutually beneficial deals’, they invest in branding and marketing and videography to boost
    traffic.

Chatters are different. For the real stars, the traffic is so high and the interaction with followers so
demanding that if they had to do it all themselves, there’s no way they would ever have time to put their pyjamas back on.

So ‘chatters’ – a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano de Bergerac –
do that for them. Keeping them engaged, online, needy and
most of all, spending, spending, spending for more and more content.

Which means, of course, that the whole thing is a total scam.
The poor daft subscriber thinks he’s really making a
connection with ‘Racy Tracey from Twickenham’, but is more likely
chatting to a middle-aged father of three from the Philippines.

He will have learnt everything about Tracey – her favourite
colour, favourite animal and favourite position – have studied
a script that reminds him ‘it’s all about selling,
selling, selling’, and will be being paid $4 an hour for his efforts.
Or the subscriber could just be talking to an AI bot – which perhaps is
    more appealing.

‘My chatter told him that I loved him. I would never, ever have said that,’ she said.

But, sadly, chatters, sugar daddies and stalkers are not
a problem for most creatives. Almost all of whom are still struggling to make any proper money, however many clothes they take off.

They will never know the clout of Cardi B, or Lily Allen, or

She did not – which caused quite a rumpus.)

Because, unlike celebrities who can redirect their existing social media followers to their OnlyFans accounts,
most people find it hard to grab attention without doing something, well, grabby.

So, despite all the tales of golden riches, the

so flooded, is only likely to go one way.

  24. Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar could have given an order to execute all the hostages
who remain in Gaza if he died, a top Israeli negotiator has claimed.

Sinwar died on Wednesday after the IDF encountered him by chance,
sending a drone to kill the terror leader.

Gershon Baskin, the Israeli negotiator who oversaw Sinwar’s
2011 release from an Israeli prison, along
with 1,026 Palestinian prisoners, in exchange for the return of
kidnapped soldier Gilad Shilat, said that his death was a ‘moment of either opportunity or a
    moment of doom.’

‘A moment of doom because there are rumours that Sinwar
instructed people holding hostages that, should he be killed, they should kill their hostages,’ he told the Telegraph.

At the time of Sinwar’s death, just over 100 hostages remained in Gaza, with 60 thought
    to still be alive.

Those who remain alive are at risk of never being returned to their
    families, according Haaretz, which reported
on Sunday that top US officials, including Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, have assessed there is
a slim chance of a deal being brokered, given the tensions between Israel and Hamas.

Sinwar (pictured) died on Wednesday after the IDF encountered him by chance, sending a drone to kill the terror leader

Protesters attend a demonstration against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and
demand a deal to release all hostages held in Gaza, during the Israel-Hamas
conflict, near Netanyahu’s private residence in Jerusalem June 20

People protest against the government, to demand a ceasefire deal and the immediate release of hostages kidnapped during the deadly October
7, 2023 attack by Hamas, in Tel Aviv, Israel

A senior Israeli official told the newspaper on Sunday, several
days after Sinwar’s passing: ‘There are currently
no serious cease-fire talks, and Blinken is fully aware of this.’

They added: ‘It’s unclear how Sinwar’s death will impact any potential
negotiations, if they even exist at this stage.’

While Baskin told the Telegraph that it wasn’t possible to confirm
whether Sinwar had a kill order on the hostages, he said the rumours ought to be
taken seriously, given how little Hamas appears to
    care for them.

He cited the horrific killing of six hostages in tunnels under Rafah in late August.

    Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari
said the six were ‘cruelly murdered by Hamas just a short time before we got to them.’

The six dead hostages were identified as Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Carmel Gat, 39,
Almog Sarusi, 26, Alex Lubnov, 26, Ori Danino, 25, and Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23.

Five of those who were recovered had been attending the Nova music festival
when Hamas terrorists began slaughtering festivalgoers, while taking
others hostage. Gat was at her family kibbutz when she was captured.

The time on the clock by the end of the footage is 1.32am, just five hours before the first terrorists were spotted
    breaching into Israeli territory

This is the moment Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s
wife is spotted seemingly holding a $32,000 bag in the tunnel leading to his secret lair

Footage of his wife seems to show her entering the tunnel to the lair, carrying a Birkin bag, the day before the horrendous tragedy.

    on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024

Goldberg-Polin lost his arm when a grenade
    exploded during the carnage.

‘We saw the six hostages killed when Israel was entering the tunnel.

That could be the case now. We just don’t know,’ Baskin said.

Britain’s involvement in a deadly plot’

He said the return of the hostages depended entirely on whether Israel is able
to make a deal with Hamas.

‘It’s a moment of opportunity where Israel should be issuing a very clear call that anyone who’s holding a hostage
that releases them will be given free passage for themselves and their
family out of Gaza to another country, as well as a lot of money.

‘In order to encourage them to do that, Israel should also be reaching out to Egypt
and Qatar and tell them to renew the negotiations quickly, not on the deal that’s
been negotiated without success for almost four months, but on a deal that would bring the hostages
home quicker and would obviously require Israel to end
    the war.’

He said a deal would likely mean the release of Palestinian prisoners, a controversial point for many Israelis who
believe that their release would simply lead to another October 7-style
    attack in the future.

A Yemeni man looks at an artwork depicting the Hamas’ Political Bureau
    Head Yahya Sinwar

Sinwar’s lair, discovered by Israeli soldiers in the Tel al-Sultan area, was well-resourced,
with food, water and other supplies to help him survive for months underground

These are the disquieting images that show Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was callously hiding out in relative
comfort from his underground lair as he ordered his terror group
to carry out the bloodiest massacre Israel has ever endured

But Baskin said it was a mistake to think like
this: ‘October 7 wasn’t because of Sinwar. [It] was because we’re occupying another people for
56 years without enabling them to ever believe that they’re going to be
free, or locking two million people in Gaza under poverty and telling them that they’ll never
    be able to leave Gaza.’

He said he hoped the deadly attack would ultimately force Israelis
to ‘confront the fallacy of basing its policies, vis-à-vis the Palestinians, on military force’.

‘For Palestinians, the lessons learned must, first and foremost,
be that there should no longer be an armed struggle as part of their liberation strategy.

‘Right or wrong, the armed struggle primarily brings death and destruction.’

He added: ‘Every person living between the river and the sea
must have the same right to the same rights.

‘From that principle, we can move forward. Freedom, self-determination, security,
    and dignity for all.’

  25. Joker: Folie À Deux — starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix — has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the
film bombed at the box office on opening night.

The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized as ‘bleak’ and
‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters on Friday, October 4, but it only raked in $20 million at the domestic box office, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the sequel,
which had earned him an Oscar for his portrayal in the 2019 film, while Gaga took on the role of Harleen Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn).

However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic book movie.

Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also received terrible reviews — holds a higher
    score with a C+.

Joker: Folie À Deux – starring Lady Gaga
and Joaquin Phoenix – has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the film bombs at the box
    office on opening night

It received a D rating on CinemaScore – the lowest score for a comic book movie

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience
score of 31% and a critic score of 32%.

The sequel is projected to rake in less that $50 million at the domestic box office during the entirety of opening weekend, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Joker: Folie À Deux is branded ‘bleak’ and the ‘most disappointing follow-up’ by
    critics

Weeks ago, the movie had been projected to
bring in around $70 million – but the number has since drastically dropped.

Joker (2019) notably opened with $96.2 million when the film
first released in theaters – and eventually landed a little over
$1 billion in the global box office.

The first movie – which was also directed by Todd Phillips – had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget increased for Folie À Deux to around $200 million.

The 2019 movie garnered praise and positive reviews from both
critics and audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the
    76th Venice International Film Festival.

Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal
of the Joker (Arthur Fleck) – and the film garnered an additional Academy Award for Best Original
    Score.

The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month in September, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score
of 31% and a critic score of 32%

However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released
in theaters on Friday – and shared their opinions on the
    sequel, which features musical sequences.

One fan penned, ‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this.
what happened to the script?’ while another added, ‘is it
that bad,’ followed by a crying face emoji.

‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have been a good choice.

It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck is,’ one typed.

‘But with some original songs, that keep everything vague, not just covers.
Also when I heard of the ending I snorted fr.’

A social media user wrote, ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’

‘Maybe he [Phillips] only had an hour long movie, and decided to
randomly add musical scenes to fill the runtime,’
    one penned.

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared,
along with a monkey staring out a window.

One fan said, ‘the movie sucks. i had to walk out of the
cinema,’ while another penned, ‘After years of disagreement….*Joker 2 releases* Critics [shaking hands] Audience.’

The sequel is projected to only rake in less that $50 million in the
domestic box office during the entirety of opening
    weekend, per The Hollywood Reporter

However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday –
and shared their opinions over the sequel, which was also a musical

‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have been a good choice.

It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck
    is,’ one typed

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared,
along with a monkey staring out a window

‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards to the current Rotten Tomatoes scores.
‘People are saying this is the worst sequel ever.’

A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious and dull.
has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance.’

‘It also insults the audience’s intelligence. the songs were also underwhelming too.
they shouldn’t have let this escape to theaters.’

One shared, ‘The audience that loved the first movie is
not the same audience running to see musicals.
This was a gigantic mistake from step 1.’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether he
would be interested in making a third Joker film or a movie
    centered around Gaga’s character.

‘It’s not really where this movie is headed for me. I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these
    two films.’

Ahead of the movie’s release, Lady Gaga also dropped an accompanying album titled Harlequin on September 27.

Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following
    its release on Friday.

‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards to the
current Rotten Tomatoes scores. ‘People are saying this
    is the worst sequel ever’

A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was
pretentious and dull. has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance’

The ‘bleak’ sequel, has also received a tepid reception from fans,
with some claiming Lady Gaga’s career could be at risk.

While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the
hot seat, critics have said the sequel is just a ‘repeat’ of the first hit
but with an added musical twist.

Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the movie
and claimed she was only bought in for the musical
    aspect of it.

While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t
live up to expectations, others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant.’

Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but said it lacked any thrill.

The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today Joker
is best remembered as one of the most subversive and original films of
the last decade, while its hugely anticipated sequel is just as
bleak and formally daring as its predecessor’.

Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the
movie just two stars but credited Phillips’ work for making a
sequel following the first movie’s $1billion success.

Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard to bump the ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to have no idea what to do with her.

Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether he would
    be interested in making a third Joker film or a movie centered around Gaga’s character;
Phillips, Gaga and Phoenix seen in September in L.A.

Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most
disappointing follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics,
as they cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release
on Friday; seen in September in London

The Times’ Kevin Maher wrote: ‘The director Todd
Phillips said there would be no follow-up to the original, but
he changed his mind and the result is a derivative musical’

‘This might be the most disappointing follow-up to an Oscar-winning
performance since Anthony Hopkins reworked his
silky and terrifying Dr Lecter from for the campy, kitschy.’

Along with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the
sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and
    Steve Coogan.

Joker: Folie à Deux has faced additional backlash
from fans as they have claimed that Gaga is running the risk of losing her acting career.

  26. Forget tiny chihuahuas peeping out of handbags à la Paris
Hilton, or Taylor Swift with her adorably grumpy looking Scottish Fold cats who have become celebrities in their own right.

When it comes to capturing my heart with a cuddly creature, it’s the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger,
75, who’s reinvented himself as the internet’s favourite granddad with
his wholesome life with a menagerie of animals, who has won me over.

The jewel in the crown of his ever-growing brood of beasts is Schnelly the
pig, who joined the family in April last year,
making the star the latest in a long list of celebrities to realise the joys
of a porky pal – along with Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and
    the Beckhams.

I’m completely smitten with the cuteness of pet pigs. I lose hours
scrolling through Instagram, looking at pictures of furry little piglets with pretty pink snouts.

There are 255,000 Insta posts with the hashtag #petpig and I’ve probably looked at all
of them. Then there’s the 286,000 posts hashtagged #micropig and I’d hazard a guess that I’ve seen all of those too.

So I’m rather excited to discover that there’s a pig farm less than an hour from central London, where I can find
out what it’s really like to have a porcine pet.

While celebrities might get away with turning up to photoshoots, TV
appearances and fancy restaurants with all manner of furry creatures,
will I get the same reception if I take a pig for a stroll down the high street?

Samantha Rea from London strolling down the
high street in Old Amersham with Astrid, a 16 month old micro pig

The pair stopped off at The Griffin, a private members
club, bistro and bakery, for some refreshments after a
    trot down the high street

Samantha Rea spent time at the Kew Little Pig Farm in Amersham, Buckinghamshire to learn how to muck out and care for pigs

Learning how to feed hay to the pigs did make Samantha question whether it’s easier to stick
with a dog or cat as a pet

I’m hoping the Kew Little Pigs Farm will help me
find out. It specialises in miniature pigs,
which pig lovers can buy or ‘adopt’ to visit on the farm.

Then there are the day trips. The Piggy Pet & Play package lets visitors
‘pet, brush, groom, watch and play with the pigs.’
The Pig Enthusiast package can include putting sun cream on the pigs, and the Comprehensive
Guide to Pig Keeping teaches you everything you need to know before buying
    your own micro pig.

    Clearly I must go there!

And so I head to Amersham, in Buckinghamshire, where Kew Little Pigs Farm is based.

When I arrive, owner Olivia Mikhail looks slightly concerned at the sight of my Converse trainers and cropped jeans,
a combination that will surely result in splattered shins.

However, Olivia has no idea just how prepared I actually am, because I have packed not only knee
high wellies for my time on the farm, but also my designer
heels, for my glimpse into what life’s like as a pig-owning celebrity.

Ariane Grande and Pete Davidson adopted Piggy Smallz during their short-lived romance
    in 2018

Comedian John Bishop was left devastated when his rescue pig Milo passed away last year, describing him as the ‘heartbeat’ of the
    family

Paris Hilton started the chihuahuas in handbags craze,
and is also the proud owner of Princess Piglette

George Clooney, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Jonathan Ross,
Charlotte Church and even the Beckhams have all kept pigs as pets over the past decade or so, while more recently
Ariane Grande and Pete Davidson adopted Piggy Smallz during their short-lived romance.

Comedian John Bishop gave rescue pig Milo a home
for more than a decade and was devastated when the pet passed away,
saying he was the ‘heartbeat’ of the family.

They’re as much a celeb accessory as oversized sunglasses – which is why
I’ve brought those with me too.

But first things first. Before I spend an afternoon taking a petite pig for a stroll, I
sit down with Olivia in the Kew Little Pigs cafe, to complete the theory side of the Comprehensive Guide to
    Pig Keeping.

It turns out there is quite a lot of admin involved
in owning a pig, alongside a rule book thicker
    than Harry Potter.

Who knew that you needed a license to walk a pig?
Who would imagine that you can’t feed pigs your kitchen leftovers?
It used to be common practice, but has been banned because of the risk of diseases such as African swine flu and foot and mouth disease that can be spread
    by consuming contaminated pork products.

Who can fathom having to fill out a form to drive your pig
from one place to another – again for disease control reasons?

After all the admin and mucking out, Samantha was delighted to move on to the fun part –
    cuddles with Astrid

Samantha found that mucking out the pig pen was actually
a lot more civilised than picking up poo on a dog walk

Samantha came armed with wellies for her day at the farm, but made sure
    to keep it glamorous

After swapping her flimsy trainers for wellies, Samantha felt equipped to tackle her day on the farm

And who would guess that pigs have to have their
own house? I mean, it’s only got to be about the size of shed, but it’s actually a law to uphold welfare standards.

I suppose none of this is an issue for celebrities who have people to
do paperwork for them – not to mention acres of space – but to me it seems insurmountable.

Olivia senses that my dreams are crushed and attempts to
reassure me: ‘It’s really not that much paperwork. Look, filling in this form would take two minutes.’

Moving on from the theory, we head outside for the practical part of the course.
Here, in large pens, are lots of little pigs which are super cute, so this makes me
    happy.

I am given a rake to claw the pig poo into a dustpan. Both the rake and the dustpan have long
handles and I like the distance this creates. It is certainly more civilised than picking
up poo in a flimsy plastic bag on a dog walk.

Clearing away pig excrement with proper equipment
which allows you to maintain a civilised, and sanitary, distance makes me wonder if – despite the
paperwork – pigs might just trump dogs.

Samantha was worried she might attract stares walking Astrid through town,
    but nobody batted an eyelid

Samantha treated herself to a hot chocolate while Astrid enjoyed some
    pig treats

Samantha swapped her wellington boots for high heels to glam up
to take her pet pig down to the town centre for lunch

Taking a pig out for a walk is trickier than it looks,
and a lot of treats are required to keep things on track

Next, Olivia asks if I would like to feed the pigs.
Yes of course! She hands me some hay that’s stuffed inside what’s
basically a large fishnet stocking, the size of Santa’s sack.
The hay sticks out of all the holes, and it’s my job to hang up the sack in the pig pen, so the pigs can eat from it.

This sounds easy. Only it’s not. ‘NOT THERE! NO! IT’S GOT TO BE HIGHER!
TIE IT ROUND THE POST! NO! NOT LIKE THAT! NO!’

I feel like a failing contestant on The Crystal
Maze, only this is worse because I’m now surrounded by hungry pigs and
I cannot see a panic button.

I swear there was something on Netflix where murdered bodies were dumped in a pig pen, to be eaten by the pigs.
Or maybe the bodies were eaten alive. This definitely happens all the time,
according to TV, and now I don’t even know which is worse, the prospect of being felled by pigs eating through my ankles, or the pressure to hang the hay correctly.

It is like my challenge on The Crystal Maze has been especially devised
to amuse the inhabitants of hell.

I find myself grateful to make it out of the pig pen alive.
Surely I get to do celebrity stuff now?

Celebrities’ pigs are as stylish as their owners, so I’ve sourced designer
outfits for my trottered chums. I’d initially looked at diamond chokers by Dior,
because what pig wouldn’t want a diamond collar? But apparently pigs are happier in harnesses, which fit around the body,
    not just the neck.

I hunt for a harness that an A-lister might pick for
their pig, and I am delighted to discover a pink leopard print harness with a matching lead.

It is by Urban Pup, a pet fashion brand whose website I’ve now spent more time on than all the other websites in my search history.

There’s the zebra print, the cheetah print, the pink argyle; the florals,
the tartans, and the hearts. There’s the range inspired
by Legally Blonde and the pet carrier that resembles a pink Chanel handbag.

    Then there are the socks…

I turn up at the farm with more outfits for the pigs
than I have for myself. I guess this is what it’s like being
    a pig parent: #SELFLESS

I am introduced to Astrid, a 16 month old micro piglet who’ll fulfill my dreams of walking a
pig. I show Olivia all the outfits I’ve brought from Urban Pup and she picks out a pink tartan harness with a matching lead.

I want to dress up all the pigs but Olivia says
no. That’s OK. There is probably some law about only one pig at a time looking this stunning.

When Astrid and I are dressed, we head into
Old Amersham. It’s a pretty market town in the Chilterns with cobbled streets and quaint white
    buildings with beams.

So how will locals feel about a pig on a lead?

I imagine I may be sternly spoken to by a member of the Women’s Institute.
However, it turns out that Old Amersham is perfectly au fait with celebrity antics, given that Poirot, Midsomer Murders and Four Weddings and a
Funeral have all been filmed there.

On my pig keeping course I have learnt that pigs never poo
where they eat, sleep or socialise, because they’re very clean, so from
day one, without any training, a pig will go outside to poo.

I am surprised then, as I arrive in Old Amersham, to find
that Astrid has done her business in her
carry box. I try not to think about this, as I hold her lead.

Our first stop is the Amersham Museum. I’m not a massive fan of walking around
looking at things, but I hear the museum homes a Tudor dining
table that visitors are welcome to sit at. It is about lunchtime,
so I’m hopeful I’ll be served a Tudor banquet. I quite fancy a
tankard of wine and a bit of wild boar.

Unfortunately, Astrid does not, and so, despite being welcomed by museum director Briony,
we leave pretty much as soon as we arrive.

We go for a stroll instead, but I have to scatter pig food pellets to coax Astrid along
the pavement. I guess celebrities get their assistants to walk ahead, trailing treats to entice the pet pigs in the
    right direction.

Hard at work: Writer Samantha Rea tried the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping, which  teaches you everything you need
to know before buying your own micro pig

However, doing it without an assistant, I find myself thinking that it’s definitely easier to
    walk a dog.

Celebrity life is about lounging in luxurious surroundings, so Astrid and I head to The Griffin, a private members club, bistro and bakery, that’s pretty much the Soho House of
    Amersham.

In the beamed building that dates back to the 17th century, there are gorgeous leather sofas and cosy cushions.
However, I have learnt on my pig keeping course that pigs
are happiest alfresco, so Astrid and I take a seat on the astro-turf terrace, beneath a pretty parasol that wouldn’t be out of place in a Cotswolds shoot for Tatler.

It is here, as we relax like A-listers, that Astrid and I are at
our happiest. As I sip a coffee and eye-up a chocolate brownie (I’m being a celebrity, remember, I don’t actually eat these things), Astrid puts her trotters up on the
seat beside me and enjoys a few pig food pellets.

Clearly this is our natural environment, so it’s probably just a matter of time before Astrid is
snapped up by a celebrity to live life first class.

But for now, Astrid must mooch back to the mud, and I must head home to wash pig poo off my
    wellies.

I am chuffed to bits to have spent an afternoon with Astrid,
but as I think it all over, on the train back to Marylebone, I know that
I’ll never keep a pig as a pet.

Aside from all the legal red tape, my lack of space in London, and the
trickiness of trying to take a pig for a walk, there’s always the fear that the
micro pig might turn out to be not so tiny after all.

I’ve seen headlines about 4 ounce “teacup” pigs growing bigger than a bear, and frankly I find it terrifying.
So I’ll leave the pet pigs to the celebrities.

The veteran presenter, 29, and the Peking Duk frontman went public with their relationship in June.

However another racy photo, taken before they became a couple, captured Abbie and

presenter looking absolutely smitten over the strapping musician.

Abbie had a huge smile on her face in the adorable picture, as she gazed intensely at

She captioned the picture: ‘One year and two days since this iconic photo

    Both pictured

The podcast host was braless in the image, and her low-slung skirt showed plenty

Shortly after they went public with their relationship, Abbie opened up about her sex life with her boyfriend
in a candid and wide-ranging chat on her It’s A Lot

She appeared on the bonus Ask Me Anything episode with Adam, in which they discussed their budding romance.

As the new couple fielded questions about their bond, musician Adam cheekily boasted
    about the couple’s sizzling chemistry.

It comes after Abbie revealed the sexual act she would never engage

  28. ANGELA HARTNETT’S BEEF & VEAL MEATBALLS
Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight supper and there are many ways to serve them (see tip).
The veal in these gives a lightness to the result, but you can swap it out for all beef, or flavourful pork mince.

This is a good way to use up any day-old bread hanging around.
The recipe is easy to double up on and freeze so you have a meal for an emergency.

    SERVES 4

4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion

    1 onion, finely chopped

    2 garlic cloves, chopped

    400g tin chopped tomatoes

200g white bread (day old, if possible)

whole milk (enough to soak the bread)

    500g beef mince

    250g English veal mince

2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve

    4 anchovies, finely chopped

    2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley

salt and freshly ground black pepper

350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)

1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive oil over
a medium heat, then add half the chopped onion and
half the garlic, then sauté for 10 minutes
to soften. Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts
to bubble, reduce to a simmer and leave to cook, stirring occasionally (about 20 minutes, to create a thick sauce), while you make the meatballs.

2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft.
In another bowl, mix the beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the
parsley and the rest of the onions and garlic.
Then add the soaked bread, lightly squeezing any
excess milk from it first. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.

3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium
heat. When hot, add the meatballs, turning (for about 5 minutes) to ensure they colour all over.
If necessary, cook in batches so they are not all squashed together, setting each
batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.

4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.

Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over a medium
heat. Put the meatballs back into the pan for a further 4-5 minutes to cook through.
Sprinkle with the remaining parsley before serving.

TIP You can serve the meatballs as they come, or on top of spaghetti.
If you would prefer the latter, cook the pasta according to the packet instructions until al dente.
Drain it in a colander, reserving a cupful of the cooking
water to loosen the meatball sauce if necessary, and then transfer it back
to the pan and toss it with a little olive oil and
butter. Put the spaghetti on a serving plate and top with the
meatballs and sauce. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan.

  30. An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer
you simply didn’t refuse. Providing, of course,
that the bill was on someone else. Because caviar, smeared on blinis
or piled high on baked potatoes, sure didn’t come cheap.

There may have been other things on the menu, but no one paid
them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few
better dishes on earth…only the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over
by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.
Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.

But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow,
meaning the doors were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty
    – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a
loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the
background. The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale,
luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t speak, rather communicate
entirely via camera phone. Pose, click, check, filter, post.
Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia
croque monsieur that tastes far better than it ought to.
Next door, a large table fills with a glut of
    the noisily, glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into
    an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’,
we would have barely blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp
as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a study in tuber art.
A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day if I could.
But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

  41. Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote à Windhoek, le
    29 novembre 2024 en Namibie

Namibians returned to vote on Friday in 36 polling
stations reopened two days after a chaotic election,
set to test the ruling party’s 34-year grip on power, was marred
    by technical problems.

Tensions are mounting in the historically stable and peaceful southern African nation where Wednesday’s election was marked by long delays and labelled a “sham” by the opposition.

Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential and
legislative polls, billed as the toughest yet for the South West Africa
People’s Organisation (SWAPO) party, in power since Namibia’s 1990 independence from South africa.

Wednesday’s queues were caused by many technical problems, including issues with tablets used to register voters and shortages of ballot papers.

In some cases, torches used to show up invisible ink had run out of batteries
and mobile voting teams had left areas with voters still in the queues, it said.

Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral commission extended the
vote for a second time, giving Namibians until Saturday evening to vote.

In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen, about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who
    arrived at 4:30 am.

The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:00 pm on Wednesday but
left before being able to vote as he had exams the next day.

Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie

“Everyone will have the chance to vote,” he said.
But because Namibians can vote at any given polling station, he was worried “everyone will flock to one place again.”

The disarray led to angry complaints from opposition parties with some calling
for a halt in the electoral process.

Opposition parties were scheduled to meet on Friday and issue
a joint statement, according to Christine Aochamus who represents the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party.

Youth unemployment, enduring inequalities and the emergence of a generation born after independence are challenging support towards SWAPO which has ruled since 1990.

    Its candidate, vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah,
who could become the first woman to lead the country if elected, could face an unprecedented second round
    in the mineral rich country.

“To open only one place in Khomas (the region of which the capital is part of) is absurd,” said voter Ensley Engermund, who also said he couldn’t vote on Wednesday because of long
queues despite trying four different polling stations.

“Only 1.5 millions voters are registered and we get this chaos?” asked the
    49-year-old security agent.

“It was to get people frustrated.”

Michael is a 2006 graduate of Harvard University and runs
Napster founder Sean Parker’s Parker Group.

Throughout their years dating, Gaga and Michaelhave attended the Super Bowl, the BAFTAs, and the Critics Choice Awards together.

Wedding plans for the couple are underway and their legal plan is being negotiated.

Gaga is reportedly seeking a $900 million prenup before she walks down the aisle.

And Michael, who has a $600 million net worth as head of The Parker Foundation, is on board.

A source close to the couple told In Touch that ‘there are a lot of assets on both sides, and a prenup will just make everything
    clear.’

Gaga ‘is worth $900 million, so of course there needs to
be a prenup in place,’ the insider said. ‘And Michael understands that.

    He’s not resisting it.’

Gaga obscured her tummy in the hypnotizing ensemble thanks
to a conveniently placed over her midriff.

Gaga showed off her toned legs in shimmery black pantyhose and finished the
look with classic pointy-toe black heels.

She enhanced her platinum locks with lengthy extensions and arranged them in a half-up/half-down style with
    a center part.

A portion of her hair was secured in a small chignon at the midpoint of
her head and the loose strands were set in loose waves.

The superstar entertainer wore a full face of matte

She accented her outfit with a pair of sleek, onyx sunglasses
while her husband-to-be rocked a similar pair.

Michael was quietly stylish in an all-black outfit.

He layered an understated jacket over a collared shirt and
added coordinating slacks, punctuating the outfit with black sneakers that had a white sole.

His dark, graying hair was neatly cut short and he looked handsome with a shadow of a beard.

  43. What do pop star Lily Allen, Olympic gold medal-winning diver Jack Laugher, tennis player Nick Kyrgios and 25-year-old Bonnie Blue from Nottingham, who has
filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-old students (and sometimes their dads,
    too), all have in common?

Yes, you guessed it. They are all ‘creatives’ on OnlyFans,
the adults-only online content provider founded in 2016 by a
young Essex businessman called Tim Stokely, which is now one of
the most visited (and lucrative) websites in the world.

Just last month, Lily Allen caused a stir by revealing that she makes more money charging $10 (£8) –
the site works in dollars – for pictures of her feet on her OnlyFans account labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify.

But Lily’s content is tame in comparison to much of the
content on the site, the sort company execs refer to as ‘spicy’.

Everything from cheeky shots of bottoms peeking out of bubble baths, blondes stirring vats of steaming pasta in G-strings, hot
men waxing cars in their pants, right through the sex spectrum to twosomes, threesomes, sixsomes and hardcore pornographic videos.

But also because, thanks to the allure of OnlyFans and the astonishing sums that a teeny number of the platform’s 4.1million creatives
are raking in, more and more young women (and it is mostly young women) who would never have
considered it before are suddenly happy to join in and sell photos
of, well, pretty much anything, to pay rent, settle credit card bills or splash out
on nice holidays. Basically, a flashier life all round.

‘We feel empowered. We have agency. It’s completely up to me if I
take my top off or not,’ says one 21-year-old girl, who joined a year ago and makes enough in a week
to cover a year’s student rent at Sheffield University and prefers not to
    give her name.

‘And I am happy to do it because for once I
make the rules, in the safety of my home and they’re paying me to do it.
It’s a mug’s game, but I am not the mug.’

For the benefit of those readers who are not among the site’s 305million users, OnlyFans offers creators a platform where they
can charge their fans a subscription fee ranging from $4.99 to $49.99 a month to look at their content, contact them (or more often access their
‘chatter’ – more of which later) and access often more
explicit, personalised, ‘à la carte’ content through ‘tips’.

OnlyFans model Bonnie Blue has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-olds

Rapper Cardi B is said to make $9million (£7.1million) a month
    from the site

Actress Bella Thorne, a former Disney child star, made a record-breaking $1million (£800,
    000) in 24 hours

‘Pay $10 to unlock this video’. ‘Click here for more spicy content’.
‘The more you pay, the more you see’. You get the gist.

In 2023, the site generated a record $6.6billion (£5.2billion), of which
the company takes a straight 20 per cent – much less than YouTube – and the rest goes to the
    ‘performers’.

It is unlike Instagram or other social media sites in that nothing is
suggested – instead, you have to search for, and then subscribe to, individual accounts
to see much more than profile pictures.

Which is a good thing, because while some of the content is anodyne,
much is highly sexual and many people on the site can bob freely from one
to another. Perhaps a cookery hack one day,
modelling new boots the next, then graduate to a few cheeky cleavage and bikini shots and
more, as the money becomes more tempting.

Every week, it seems, we hear of someone who has made millions.

Last month it was announced that American influencer Corinna
Kopf had retired from the site, aged 28, after making
$67million (£53million). In her best month, she reportedly earned more than $2million (£1.6million).

Rapper Cardi B is said to earn more than $9million (£7.1million) a month from
    the site.

Meanwhile, Darcie Rattles was an out-of-work bricklayer with £6,
000 in credit card bills and debts when she joined OnlyFans in 2022.

‘I was thinking: how the hell am I going to get to next week?
How am I going to pay my credit cards?’ she says in an online interview.
‘I’m young, I’ve got a good body and I’ve got a lot of
followers. It is what any girl would turn to.
It had been in the back of mind for two years, but then I did it.’

Within two days of launching, she had earned enough to pay off her debts.
Today, Darcie, who comes across as likeable, down-to-earth and has no qualms about what she shares,
claims to earn more than £250,000 a year.

Pop singer Lily Allen has discovered a niche market…

… she sells pictures of her feet for £8 and makes
more money from her account labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’
than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify

‘It doesn’t matter to me whether I get my feet out, or my other bits out,’ she says.

Though it does tend to be the other bits, because Darcie’s content promises very few
clothes and, for those who pay extra, ‘a naughty side to me you’ve never seen before’.

But even Darcie seems like the girl next door compared to Lily Phillips,
a British model who earned £2,000 in her first 24 hours on the site and recently went viral for sleeping with 101 men over a 14-hour period.
She has since announced she is planning to set a record of having sex with 1,000 men in 24
    hours.

And Bonnie Blue, a beautiful blonde with a golden tan and astonishingly white
teeth, who has worked her way round Derby, Nottingham,
Cancun and Australia, sleeping with university students.

On one night during Nottingham Trent freshers’ week – after publicising her stunt by wearing a sandwich
board that read: ‘Bonk me for free and let
me film it’ – she had boys queuing up from 6pm until five in the morning.

‘I got through them all,’ she said proudly in one interview in which she reminds us that, thanks to OnlyFans, she has
already banked more than £3 million – for which she was applauded by her followers for her entrepreneurship.

But all that is chicken feed when you consider the £370
million dividend that company owner paid himself last year.

And these days that’s Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a majority stake from Tim Stokely in 2018,
two years after he started the business with the help of a
    loan from his father.

It was the Covid-era lockdowns that thrust OnlyFans
into the stratosphere. Everyone shut up at home,
nothing to do. In 2020, it generated revenues of $2.23billion (£1.8billion).
By 2021, it was up to $4.8billion (£3.8billion).
There was a brief hiatus in October of that year when they tried banning sexually explicit content but that lasted about ten minutes before they switched back.

There have been plenty of scandals along the way.
A BBC investigation back in 2021 revealed that children were
not just accessing the material online by foxing the age verification process but were
also selling explicit videos on the website.
Leah, 17, had used a fake driving licence to
set up an OnlyFans account where she made £5,000 uploading revealing videos of herself.

There have also been claims of OnlyFans creators using public gyms and spaces to make adult
    content.

Recently there has been more concerns that the company is not doing enough to protect minors.

OnlyFans, however, prefers to portray itself
as a force for good, with supporters arguing that it empowers
people by allowing them to sell content – over which they have
full control – directly to consumers. And many of the Gen Z generation seem to agree.
‘It’s fine. It’s empowering. It’s taking control,’ they cry, pointing out that the site has loads of
moderators and a tight security system to ensure that all users are over 18.

And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn’t just about sex.

Of course, they’re right. It has long been awash with pneumatic reality TV stars and the likes of Lottie
Moss, Kerry Katona and Katie Price, who are happy to tease their followers with a few cheeky peeks in skimpy bikinis.

I spend an afternoon browsing the site and, while it is not all ‘spicy’ content as the company executives like to call it, everything is dripping with sauce and
    promise.

The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish
chef is holding her paella pan. Company executives have been pushing hard to
make the platform more mainstream – offering contracts
and financial incentives to encourage musicians, sports stars,
cooks, anyone really, to come on and share
a bit of exclusive – or niche – content.

Really, anything that people will pay to look at – glimpses
backstage at concerts. Celebrities in the bath.

During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of athletes jumped on the OnlyFans bandwagon to share pictures of their beautifully toned bodies.

Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses the site to share ‘exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries, including
artistic portrayals of nudity’ for $14.99 a month.
    British speedskater

Olympic diver Jack Laugher is among a number of sports stars using OnlyFans

Reality TV star Kerry Katona has also teased followers with content

Lottie Moss  has also taken to the adults-only online content
provider that was founded in 2016 and is used by 4.1 million creatives

Elise Christie turned to the site when she found herself in financial difficulties.

All of which seems to be working well for them, but it can be rather murkier for
    others.

Not least because, in less than a decade, OnlyFans has spawned an entire support
industry of ‘sugar daddies’ who support performers financially and ‘chatters’ who work for them.
‘Sugar daddies’ tend to be older male businessmen who ‘invest’ in promising creatives.
In what are referred to rather murkily as
‘mutually beneficial deals’, they invest in branding and marketing and videography to boost
    traffic.

Chatters are different. For the real stars, the traffic
is so high and the interaction with followers so demanding that if they had to do
it all themselves, there’s no way they would ever have time to
    put their pyjamas back on.

So ‘chatters’ – a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano de
Bergerac – do that for them. Keeping them engaged, online, needy and most of all, spending, spending, spending for more and
    more content.

Which means, of course, that the whole thing is a total scam.

The poor daft subscriber thinks he’s really making a connection with ‘Racy Tracey from Twickenham’,
but is more likely chatting to a middle-aged father of three from the Philippines.

He will have learnt everything about Tracey – her favourite colour,
favourite animal and favourite position – have studied a script that
reminds him ‘it’s all about selling, selling, selling’, and
will be being paid $4 an hour for his efforts. Or the subscriber could just be talking to an AI bot – which perhaps is more appealing.

Chatters can be dangerous. As Alanya, a paralegal from Scotland,
discovered when she learned that one of her most enthusiastic
followers had travelled to her home town to find her, encouraged by her chatter.

‘My chatter told him that I loved him. I would never, ever have said that,’ she said.

But, sadly, chatters, sugar daddies and stalkers
are not a problem for most creatives. Almost all of whom are still
struggling to make any proper money, however many clothes they take off.

They will never know the clout of Cardi B, or Lily Allen, or
former Disney child star Bella Thorne, who famously made a
record- breaking $1million (£800,000) in 24 hours when she joined in August 2020.
(Though initially there was some confusion as to whether she would be appearing nude or not.
She did not – which caused quite a rumpus.)

Because, unlike celebrities who can redirect their existing social media followers to their OnlyFans accounts,
most people find it hard to grab attention without doing something, well, grabby.

So, despite all the tales of golden riches, the average earnings of an OnlyFans creative is
still just $150 (£118) a month and, with the market now
so flooded, is only likely to go one way.

And it’s easy to see how, if you’re a young woman who has convinced yourself that
you’re in control, empowered and mistress of your own destiny, you could find yourself moving inevitably and inexorably up (or perhaps down) the scale, revealing more and more.

Until, before you know it, like Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips,
you’ve kept nothing back for yourself.

  47. Joker: Folie À Deux director Todd Phillips ‘wanted nothing to do with
DC’ during making of the $200million flop film,
    a new report has claimed.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar
Oscar-winning film – stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga and was considered
a surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures – but was slammed
by critics and failed to ignite at the box office.

The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical
and ‘ignoring’ the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with
Phillips’ process telling Variety he ‘wanted nothing to do with DC’ during the making of
the film, with DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran notably absent from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month.

A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some
down-on-his-luck, mentally ill guy in a downtrodden city, it makes maybe $150 [million] worldwide.
Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was
    Joker.’

In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film does
not include a DC Studios logo.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently
holds an audience score of 31% and a critic score of 32%

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film –
stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga – seen with Phillips last month
    – and was considered a surefire hit for Warners Bros Pictures – but was
slammed by critics and failed to ignite at the box office

A DC spokesman said Gunn was directing the Max series Peacemaker in Atlanta, which had lost
a day of production due to Hurricane Helene, while Safran was sick.

A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the Joker sequel.

while Phillips declined to comment to the publication.

Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips,
DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros.
Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to
    his huge past successes.

It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who
took control of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s
cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift
speculation when he told a reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this
is kind of a Warner Bros. movie.’

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips  shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and
was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make
the sequel at a lower price point.’

The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per cent less.

However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining static.

The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical and ‘ignoring’
the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with Phillips’ process telling Variety he ‘wanted nothing
to do with DC’ during the making of the film, with DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran notably absent from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month

A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the decision to film in Los
    Angeles’.

A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one could get through to Todd.
And the one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay
attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want
to premiere the film at the Venice Film Festival, but Phillips pushed back –
with a Warner spokesman saying the studio ‘fully supported the decision to bring the film to Venice.

Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest
CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the film bombed
at the box office on opening night.

It has only made $114million worldwide against
    its $200million budget.

The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized as ‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters on Friday, October 4, but it only raked in $20 million at the domestic box office, per The
    Hollywood Reporter.

Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the sequel, which had earned him an Oscar for his
portrayal in the 2019 film, while Gaga took on the role of Harleen Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn).

However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic book movie.

Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters
earlier this year and also received terrible reviews — holds a
    higher score with a C+.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score of 31% and a critic score of 32%.

The sequel is projected to rake in less that $50 million at the domestic box office during the entirety
of opening weekend, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Weeks ago, the movie had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but
the number has since drastically dropped.

Joker (2019) notably opened with $96.2 million when the film first released in theaters – and eventually landed a little over $1 billion in the global box office.

The first movie – which was also directed by Todd Phillips
    – had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget increased for Folie À Deux to around $200 million.

The 2019 movie garnered praise and positive reviews from
both critics and audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the 76th Venice International Film Festival.

Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the Joker (Arthur Fleck) – and the film garnered an additional Academy Award for Best Original
    Score.

The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month in September, where it earned a 12-minute
    standing ovation, per Deadline.

A source directly involved with the film said:
‘No one could get through to Todd. And the one thing about genre stuff:
If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.

However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared their opinions on the sequel, which features musical sequences.

‘But with some original songs, that keep everything
vague, not just covers. Also when I heard of the ending I
    snorted fr.’

A social media user wrote, ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’

‘Maybe he [Phillips] only had an hour long movie, and
decided to randomly add musical scenes to fill the runtime,’ one penned.

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared, along with a monkey staring out a
    window.

One fan said, ‘the movie sucks. i had to walk out of the cinema,’ while another penned, ‘After years of disagreement….*Joker 2 releases* Critics [shaking hands] Audience.’

However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared
their opinions over the sequel, which was also a musical

‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have been a good choice.
It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck is,’ one typed

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared, along with a monkey staring out a window

‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards to the current Rotten Tomatoes scores.
‘People are saying this is the worst sequel ever.’

A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious
and dull. has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance.’

‘It also insults the audience’s intelligence. the songs were also underwhelming too.
they shouldn’t have let this escape to theaters.’

One shared, ‘The audience that loved the first movie is
not the same audience running to see musicals. This was a gigantic
    mistake from step 1.’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether he would be interested in making a
third Joker film or a movie centered around
    Gaga’s character.

‘It’s not really where this movie is headed for me.
I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.’

Ahead of the movie’s release, Lady Gaga also dropped an accompanying album titled Harlequin on September 27.

Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing
follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following
    its release on Friday.

‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards to the current Rotten Tomatoes scores.
‘People are saying this is the worst sequel ever’

A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious
and dull. has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance’

The ‘bleak’ sequel, has also received a tepid reception from
fans, with some claiming Lady Gaga’s career
    could be at risk.

While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the hot seat,
critics have said the sequel is just a ‘repeat’ of the first
hit but with an added musical twist.

Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the movie
and claimed she was only bought in for the musical aspect of it.

While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t
live up to expectations, others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant.’

Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but
    said it lacked any thrill.

The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today
Joker is best remembered as one of the most subversive and original films
of the last decade, while its hugely anticipated sequel is
just as bleak and formally daring as its predecessor’.

Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the movie just
two stars but credited Phillips’ work for making a sequel following the first movie’s $1billion success.

Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard to bump the ratings up in the sequel,
Phillips appeared to have no idea what to do with her.

Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed
the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’

Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast doubt on Lady
Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release on Friday; seen in September in London

The Times’ Kevin Maher wrote: ‘The director Todd Phillips said there would be
no follow-up to the original, but he changed his mind and the
    result is a derivative musical’

‘This might be the most disappointing follow-up to an Oscar-winning performance since Anthony Hopkins reworked his silky and
terrifying Dr Lecter from for the campy, kitschy.’

Along with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve Coogan.

Joker: Folie à Deux has faced additional backlash from fans as they have
claimed that Gaga is running the risk of losing
    her acting career.

The veteran presenter, 29, and the Peking Duk frontman went public with their relationship in June.

However another racy photo, taken before they became a couple, captured Abbie
and Adam waiting patiently together in a fast
food line, with the presenter looking absolutely smitten over the strapping musician.

Abbie had a huge smile on her face in the adorable picture, as she gazed intensely at Adam as they chatted
    while waiting to order.

She captioned the picture: ‘One year and two days since this
iconic photo of me being in love with Adam.

‘Before we ever even slept together LMAO. “Nah, I don’t have a crush on him anymore”.’

Abbie Chatfield has shared a very telling throwback
image of her and her boyfriend Adam Hyde, six months before they went Instagram Official.

    Both pictured

The podcast host was braless in the image, and her low-slung skirt showed
    plenty of skin.

Shortly after they went public with their relationship, Abbie opened up about her sex
life with her boyfriend in a candid and wide-ranging chat on her It’s A Lot podcast.

She appeared on the bonus Ask Me Anything episode with Adam, in which they discussed
    their budding romance.

As the new couple fielded questions about their bond, musician Adam cheekily boasted about the couple’s sizzling chemistry.

It comes after Abbie revealed the sexual act she would never engage
    in with her boyfriend.

She recently opened up about the launch of her ‘kink kit’ sex toys and admitted when it comes to
    bedroom fun, it’s strictly a two-person affair.

The veteran presenter, 29, whose relationship with the
Peking Duk frontman went public in June, posted
a loved-up image of them to Instagram from November last year. The photo captured Abbie and Adam waiting patiently together, with the presenter

‘I have a fantasy about seeing my partner f*** someone else,’ she

‘But I think I know in my heart that I don’t actually want to

But in reality, would I want to see that? Probably not.’

‘Whenever we get to a point where we’re like, “let’s have a threesome!”, I’m like, “I don’t actually know if I’m gonna want to see that”,’ she continued.

  49. Nothing signals the start of winter quite like the return of the Fair Isle knit.
Once considered ‘ugly’ knitwear we’d only pull out
from the back of our wardrobes as an alternative to a Christmas jumper (especially the red-nosed reindeer kind à la Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’s Diary)
or for a winter sport holiday (specifically for après-ski), the Fair Isle jumper has now become somewhat of a fashion statement.

The knit is named after the small, eponymous Shetland Island in Scotland and uses a traditional knitting technique to create those distinctive patterns with multiple
colours. It was brought into vogue by an earlier Prince of Wales (later
Edward VIII) in the 1920s, and has remained a casual wardrobe
staple for members of the Royal Family, including Kate Middleton, whose jumper collection includes at least three different Fair Isle designs.

    Kensington Palace

Another fan of the nostalgic knit is Alexa Chung, who recently layered a Fair Isle
vest by Molly Goddard over a light blue button-down in a snap for Instagram.
    The It-girl previously also wore a V-neck
vest from Cotswolds-based knitwear brand Cooking Apple, and sported a chunky Fair Isle crewneck with white, straight-leg jeans, black loafers
and an oversized, black leather blazer to ring in the festive season at private members’ club in London last
    year.

A host of designers have dropped Fair Isle-inspired knits for AW24,
proving the multicoloured jumpers have become
a timeless investment. If, as in our case, that £1,885 cashmere turtleneck from Loro Piana is a little out of your budget,
there are countless options on the high street. The cropped cardi from Hush certainly caught our attention, as did the Fair Isle knit that was featured in the John Lewis

What is the carving on the front of a ship called?

    Asked by Wiki User

    a figurehead.

  53. An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time,
an offer you simply didn’t refuse. Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes, sure didn’t come cheap.
There may have been other things on the menu, but no one paid them
much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few better dishes on earth…only
the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss),
and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s. It prospers to this
day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet. Until last year, when she reopened
as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.
But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome –
albeit near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish,
under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very
stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.
The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale,
luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur
that tastes far better than it ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a
glut of the noisily, glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into
an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have
barely blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a study in tuber art.
A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline,
raises them to the sublime. Only the price,
at just under £150 each, is ridiculous. But there are few
better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day if I could.
But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar.
    One taste is never enough.

The iconic songstress, 56, who is best known for the 1997 Titanic soundtrack song, was seen attempting to stream her rendition of Edith Piaf’s Hymne à l’amour – but Siri failed to understand her and instead suggested
    My Heart Will Go On.

In the clip, Dion says: ‘Hey Siri, play Hymne à l’amour
by Céline Dion?’ with Siri responding: ‘I cannot find that track by Céline Dion but here is My Heart Will
    Go On. ”

A frustrated Dion said: ‘No! Hello, No, no, no, Hey Siri, can you play Hymne à l’amour by Céline Dion please?’

Again, Siri replied: ‘I cannot find that track by Céline Dion but here is My Heart Will Go On.’

How Celine Dion fought Stiff Person Syndrome every day to be fit to open the Olympics

Dion burst out laughing and said ‘never mind!’ before suggesting she ask the question in a strong French accent.

After this Siri responded: ‘Okay, here is ‘Hymne à l’amour by Céline Dion.’

Dion looked shocked before smiling and giving the thumbs up.

In July Dion made a musical comeback with the track at the 2024 Paris Olympic Opening Ceremony amid her battle with incurable condition, stiff-person syndrome.

28 years after making her Olympic debut in 1996 at Atlanta’s stadium, Celine proved she’s still got it following her emotional act in the French city at the Eiffel Tower.

And after bringing fans to tears, Celine reflected on the iconic moment with a heartfelt message on X.

She wrote: ‘I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities!

‘Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.

‘All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being
here means that it has come true for you!

‘You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best.
Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you! – Celine xx…’

Celine looked incredible in a shimmering silver gown as she performed in front of the Eiffel
    Tower.

She gave a rendition of Hymne à L’amour, which was originally
sung by French music icon Edith Piaf.

The song was originally released in 1950 and its title
translates into English as ‘Hymn to Love.’

The My Heart Will Go On songstress looked to be on the verge of tears
as she finished the performance to cheers from the crowd,

  56. ANGELA HARTNETT’S BEEF & VEAL MEATBALLS
Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight supper and there are many ways to serve them (see tip).
The veal in these gives a lightness to the result, but you can swap it out for all beef, or
flavourful pork mince. This is a good way to use up
any day-old bread hanging around. The recipe is easy to double up on and
freeze so you have a meal for an emergency.

    SERVES 4

4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion

    1 onion, finely chopped

    2 garlic cloves, chopped

    400g tin chopped tomatoes

200g white bread (day old, if possible)

whole milk (enough to soak the bread)

    500g beef mince

    250g English veal mince

2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve

    4 anchovies, finely chopped

    2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley

salt and freshly ground black pepper

350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)

1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive oil over
a medium heat, then add half the chopped onion and half the
garlic, then sauté for 10 minutes to soften. Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts to bubble, reduce to a simmer
and leave to cook, stirring occasionally (about 20 minutes, to create a thick sauce), while you make the meatballs.

2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft.
In another bowl, mix the beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the parsley and the rest of the onions and garlic.
Then add the soaked bread, lightly squeezing any excess milk from it first.
Mix well and season with salt and pepper. Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.

3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium
heat. When hot, add the meatballs, turning (for about 5 minutes)
to ensure they colour all over. If necessary, cook in batches
so they are not all squashed together, setting each batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.

4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over
a medium heat.

Drain it in a colander, reserving a cupful of the cooking water to loosen the meatball sauce if necessary, and then transfer it back to the
pan and toss it with a little olive oil and butter.
Put the spaghetti on a serving plate and top with the meatballs
and sauce. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan.

  65. Anyone who knows me has invariably been subject to a spiel about
how much I love Claudia Winkleman. In part, it’s because she’s so
silly, and in part, it’s because I’m a huge fan of everything
she presents, from Strictly to The Traitors.

But even more than any of that, it’s because I’m obsessed with everything she wears.
I’ve spent a fortune copying her exact outfits, from her Sister Jane heart cutout dress to a bedazzled
Nadine Merabi blazer that I definitely don’t go anywhere fancy enough to wear.

Since 2005, Claudia has worked with stylist Sinead McKeefry to perfect her signature style.
I’d describe it as soft goth: lots of black, velvet and
chunky knits, with a fair few sequins and prints (particularly tartan) thrown in. I’m not alone in my reverence: there are entire Instagram accounts dedicated to tracking down the presenter’s outfits.
But while they offer incredibly useful style inspo, two issues arise
repeatedly: Claudia’s clothes are usually hugely expensive or sold out (or both).

So when the Strictly host stepped out in a typically preppy black velvet mini dress on Sunday, you’d be
forgiven for assuming it was by some top-end designer.
Well, you’d be wrong. The mini dress actually came courtesy of
one of our favourite high street brands, Albaray – and you can pick it up for less than £100.

The dress is made from plush fabric with contrast satin detailing.
The velvet makes it a little festive, perfect for celebratory bashes over the
next few months, particularly when paired with white stilettos à la Claud.

But it could be just as easily dressed down with white trainers or ballet flats and a trench for a chic office outfit, so you’ll certainly get your wear out of it.

Like all of Albaray’s products, it’s ethically made using responsible fabric and sent via a carbon-neutral shipping method, so you can feel good about the dress’s eco-credentials as well as how it looks.
It’s currently in stock in a few sizes online (and in certain John Lewis concessions) but like most things Claudia wears,
it won’t stick around long. Now excuse me while I go and add to cart.

The Warner Bros. film has made $192.2 million worldwide, with $56.6 million in domestic box office revenue, according to

  71. Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up
to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following
    its release on Friday.

The ‘bleak’ sequel, has also received a tepid reception from fans, with
some claiming Lady Gaga’s career could be at risk.

While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the hot seat,
critics have said the sequel is just a ‘repeat’ of the first hit but with an added musical twist.

Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the movie and claimed she was only bought in for the musical
    aspect of it.

While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t live up to expectations,
others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’.

While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the hot seat, critics have said

but with an added musical twist

Joker: Folie à Deux premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival last month and was released in the United Kingdom and the United States on Friday.

The Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but said it lacked any thrill.

Giving the sequel a four star rating, he wrote: ‘This film is audaciously different in style from the
original, not as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all the same.

‘Arthur is now behind bars, waiting to see
whether he will be judged sane enough to stand trial for murder, and
in the meantime enjoying his celebrity status with fellow prisoners and even the warders,
one of whom, a sadistic Irishman played by Brendan Gleeson, feeds him cigarettes in return for jokes.

Joker: Folie a Deux is a punchline five years in the making,
    writes BRIAN VINER

‘Lady Gaga plays Lee, a fellow inmate on her way, we suppose,
to becoming Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn.
The pair hit it off at a music therapy class, and are soon mutually smitten, but
Lee makes it clear that she loves the dangerously charismatic Joker, ‘clown prince of crime’, not
    the gloomily introspective Arthur.

‘Which is more real: the psychopath wearing the mask or the vulnerable fellow behind it?
Either way, identity confusion is the theme of this film, which keeps being billed as a musical.

‘It’s not, really, although music looms large as an expression of Arthur and Lee’s burgeoning love for
one another. And there are a couple of swooning dance routines that make them look like psychotic versions of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in La La Land (2016).

‘For me, Joker was a near-masterpiece, and while this sequel doesn’t scale those heady heights, it is still a gripping film about mental illness; not
quite comparable with all-time greats such as Psycho
(1960) and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975), but not too far
    off.’
