1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat ɑ dash of olive oil oｖer a medium heat, thеn add half the chopped onion аnd
half the garlic, tһｅn sauté for 10 minutеs tto soften. Add thе tomates and wһen tһe liquid startѕ to bubble, reduce tо a simmer and leave
tо cook, stirring occasionally (аbout 20
minutes, to create a thіck sauce), wһile you maкｅ the meatballs.

2 In a bowl, soak tһe bread in tһe milk untіl soft.

In another bowl, mix tһе beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half tһe parsley andd the
rest օf thе onions and garlic. Then add tһe soaked bread,
lightly squeezing ɑny excess milk from it firѕt. Mix ᴡell аnd seasoon wifh salt аnd
pepper. Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.

3 Ꮲut the 4 tablespoolns oof olive oil іn a lɑrge frying pan оvｅr ɑ medium
heat. Ꮤhen hot, add tһe meatballs, turning (fօr abⲟut 5 minutеs) to ensure tһey colour ɑll over.
If neϲessary, cook іn batches ѕo tһey аre not аll squashed tօgether, setting
eаch batch aside ߋn a plate while you cook the remainder.

4 To finish, remove the meatballs frⲟm the pan аnd
set аsіde. Pоur tһe tommato sauce intο thee frying pan oѵer a medoum heat.
Ⲣut thе meatballs ƅack into tһe pan fⲟr ɑ
furtһer 4-5 minutes to cook tһrough. Sprinkle ԝith the remaining

Former first lady Melania Trump said she was completely
comfortable with posing nude during her modeling days. 

In her memoir Melania, which was released Tuesday, she recounts how
her nude photos were put on the cover of The New York Post during the closing weeks of
the 2016 presidential election. 

The tabloid used the ‘disgusting heaadline,’ as Melania described it, ‘Menage à Trump.’

‘My upbringing in Europe had fostered a different perspective on nudity, a more open and accepting attitude,’ she wrote.

She noted how ‘attitudes toward the female body in the United States were starkly different.’

Terrifier 3 – made for just $2million – has become a surprise

Smile 2 and Terrifier 3 are set for a horror box office showdown this
weekend.

Terrifier 3 – made for just $2million – has become a surprise
hit, raking in $28.6million so far and knocking Joaquin Phoenix and
Lady Gaga film Joker: Folie à Deux off the top of the US
box office.

But the clown horror faces fierce competition from the sequel to 2022’s Smile – which became a
smash hit making $217million against a $17million budget.

Smile 2 – starring Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage and Ray Nicholson – will drop October 18 with The Wrap predicting the film could make $22million over its opening weekend.

As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite theme — abortion rights
for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald
Trump.

In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.

And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020 by
a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.

In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts
were going door-to-door to try to persuade voters to back a ballot measure to
inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution — and, while they’re at it, to vote
for Vice President Harris.

To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed
by several Republican-controlled states amount to
“a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”

She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended
the constitutional protection of federal abortion rights, Ireland,
a registered nurse, has worked in several states where abortion is banned or severely limited.

Those restrictions have had sometimes disastrous consequences for women having problem pregnancies or carrying nonviable fetuses when doctors refuse to treat them.

“Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,”

But in Tucson there is little unanimity among young voters.

“I do think that abortion is murder,” said Pedro Lopez,
a 20-year-old college student.

“There are cases of incest or rape” that merit exceptions, he conceded, “but that’s very small.”

He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have entered the country from Mexico during the
Biden-Harris administration.

“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.

“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”

So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but
to back the proposal to let local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute
anyone suspected of having entered the country illegally — powers normally
reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.

“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.

The major political parties see the competing referendums as
offering an opportunity to mobilize more people to vote — on ballot questions at the very heart of the two presidential
campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for
the White House that activists hope.

Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the Republican holding a very
narrow lead.

Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to pass.

So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian,
a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.

Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to
bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.

Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.

The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among Trump
Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.

The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically her

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly
professional one between a Prime Minister and a corporate titan, as he battles claims the Qantas
boss was his ‘personal travel agent’ for free flights and upgrades.

However that characterization of the relationship was at odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he was ‘good mates’
with Mr Albanese and had been ‘for years’.

In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and
upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas chief.

When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese implied it was purely in a professional capacity, having been Transport Minister
and shadow transport spokesperson before becoming Prime Minister. 

‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline … I had the same relationship
with him that I have with John Borghetti as the CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.

That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr Albanese and
Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each other’s
company. 

Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the red
carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March last year.

In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red carpet with one arm around the
prime minister and the other around Mr Albanese’s partner, Jodie Haydon.

Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling of it’s special ‘Yes 23′
emblazoned airplanes for the Voice referendum.

with one arm around the prime minister and the other around his
partner, Jodie Haydon for a special anniversary event last year

Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese’s arm, with the PM bursting into laughter.

Even when Scott Morrison was PM,  Mr Joyce enjoyed an apparently close relationship with Mr Albanese
as the pair stood close together at the launch of the Qantas’
landmark Perth to London flight in March, 2018. 

During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce said he
had been ‘friends for years’ with Mr Albanese.

Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s
Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny but talked up his relationship with the
Prime Minister.

‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’
Mr Joyce said. 

However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he
lobbied the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out of
domestic routes.

It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s Lounge, by
former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe
Aston that Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s Lounge member.

Anthony Albanese fires up and launches a brutal personal attack on book author

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades
from economy from Qantas and he would liaise personally with the former airline
boss for them. 

Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary
jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights
Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London,
Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being for holidays.

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights
was for work purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.    

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’ of
Mr Joyce. 

Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had directly contacted Mr Joyce to
request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.

‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone
to one of the most important stakeholders in the portfolio asking for a free
upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister
would be able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because I’m not aware of anyone else having done
it,’ Mr Dutton said.

It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership of the Qantas Chairman’s
Lounge

The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference
in the NSW city of Newcastle.

‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly
were not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,
‘ he said.

‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’

Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer
Sarah Ferguson about how confident he was that Mr Albanese
had made calls personally to Mr Joyce for upgrades.

‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.

Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to think
that the Prime Minister’s office had nothing to do with the decision.

‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the
Albanese government that would not go through the Prime Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.

He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market Qatar
had seemingly been sailing through with Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the
proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead in tracks. 

 Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to block
Qatar was due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.

Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade
received from Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported on Tuesday
that he failed to do for his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two
traveled together.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has  questioned the alleged personal requests Mr Albanese made
to Mr Joyce  while in his various parliamentary
jobs

Even when Scott Morrison was prime minister, Mr Joyce appeared to have a close relationship with Mr Albanese (the
pair are pictured at an event in 2019)

Mr Joyce as ‘basically Albanese’s personal travel agent.’

‘This is all a question of integrity. Most
Australians struggle to afford even an economy airfare.
They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business class.
It’s out of our reach,’ she said.

‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions about Qantas
when he’s been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of free upgrades to business class?

The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister and prime minister under a cloud.

‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also
politically lethal. Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who made
it. But now the perception is cementing of a long-term
pollie enjoying the perks of public office.’

Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s  apparent close relationship with Mr
Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while Qantas attempted to
break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff during Covid. 

The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court in a case brought by the
union with Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands
in compensation payouts. 

The friendship however did find one perhaps
unlikely defender in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil
Mitchell. 

‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.

‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by having
Alan Joyce as a bestie? Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

Jackie O Henderson has left her father Tony red-faced after a shocking stunt in which he was tricked into reading about her threesome live on-air.

The awkward family exchange occurred on Tuesday’s Kyle and Jackie
O Show when the radio queen and co-host Kyle Sandilands were discussing Jackie’s new memoir The Whole Truth.

Before getting her father on the line, Jackie explained to
listeners that she was about to get an unsuspecting Tony to read an excerpt
that detailed a night of passion with then boyfriend ‘Ugly’ Phil O’Neil and a 19-year-old stripper.

‘So this is going back to my Gold Coast days when I had met Phil
who [later became] my first husband,’ the 49-year-old explained.

‘I had only just met him at this point. I think [we were] two
months into seeing each other.’

Jackie then prompted her unprepared father to read the excerpt that detailed Phil’s living situation with the stripper and another, rather unsavory ‘stoner’ flatmate.  

‘He lived in a place in Main Beach that felt like a motel with two
weird flatmates. One was a stoner guy who would sit there blazed out of his gourd,’ Tony read
from Jackie’s book.

Despite the raciness of the content he had just read from his daughter’s book, Tony admitted he was not shocked by the revelations.

‘Am I amazed? Probably not,’ he said.

‘I’m sort of trying to take all of this in. After all, its my daughter we’re
talking about. If it was somebody else, it would be a different story altogether.
I’d be so excited.

‘I’ve been round the block a few times. I understand how these
things happen.’

Another passage in the book revealed a very awkward encounter
between Phil’s male flatmate and Jackie’s mother Julie. 

‘My mum came over once and when no one answered the
door, she put her face to the screen to see inside and that flatmate was right there in the living room, pants down, w***ing,’
a shocked Tony read.

The revelations come after Jackie spoke for the first time
about her years-long battle with drugs which saw her secretly go to rehab
at The Betty Ford Clinic in November in 2022.

During a tearful on-air admission, Jackie said at the height of her
addiction, she took around 10-12 Stilnox/Ambien sleeping pills and 24 Panadeine Forte painkillers a day.

An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer you simply didn’t refuse.
Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes, sure didn’t come cheap.
There may have been other things on the menu, but no one
paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was
taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.
Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.

But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened
to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome
– albeit near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze
of a stern painting of a very stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by
the glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of
indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.
The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale,
luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover
in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes far better
than it ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily,
glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm
and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we
would have barely blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely
hard with butter and sour cream, are a study in tuber art.

A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the
sublime. Only the price, at just under £150 each, is
ridiculous. But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day if I could.
But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar.

One taste is never enough.

Nothing signals the start of winter quite like the return of the Fair Isle knit.
Once considered ‘ugly’ knitwear we’d only pull out from the back of our wardrobes
as an alternative to a Christmas jumper (especially the red-nosed reindeer kind
à la Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’s Diary) or for a winter sport holiday (specifically for après-ski), the Fair Isle jumper has now become somewhat of

ANGELA HARTNETT’S BEEF & VEAL MEATBALLS
Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight supper and
there are many ways to serve them (see tip). The veal in these gives a lightness to the result, but you can swap it out for all beef, or
flavourful pork mince. This is a good way to use up any day-old bread hanging around.

The recipe is easy to double up on and freeze so you have
a meal for an emergency.

SERVES 4

4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion

1 onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, chopped

400g tin chopped tomatoes

200g white bread (day old, if possible)

whole milk (enough to soak the bread)

500g beef mince

250g English veal mince

2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve

4 anchovies, finely chopped

2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley

salt and freshly ground black pepper

350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)

1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive oil over a medium heat, then add half the chopped
onion and half the garlic, then sauté for 10 minutes to soften. Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts to bubble, reduce
to a simmer and leave to cook, stirring occasionally (about 20 minutes, to create a thick
sauce), while you make the meatballs.

2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft. In another bowl, mix the beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the parsley and the rest of the onions and garlic.
Then add the soaked bread, lightly squeezing any excess milk from it first.
Mix well and season with salt and pepper. Mould the
mixture into 12-14 meatballs.

3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium
heat. When hot, add the meatballs, turning (for about 5 minutes) to ensure
they colour all over. If necessary, cook in batches so they are not all squashed
together, setting each batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.

4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and
set aside. Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over a medium heat.
Put the meatballs back into the pan for a further 4-5 minutes to cook through.
Sprinkle with the remaining parsley before serving.

TIP You can serve the meatballs as they come, or on top of spaghetti.
If you would prefer the latter, cook the pasta according to the packet instructions until al dente.

Drain it in a colander, reserving a cupful of the cooking water to loosen the meatball
sauce if necessary, and then transfer it back to the
pan and toss it with a little olive oil and butter.
Put the spaghetti on a serving plate and top with the meatballs and sauce.
Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan.

Lady Gaga is ‘disappointed’ at the immense flood of negative reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer’s team now keen to quickly push out other projects to
help distract from the furor over the film, insiders
claim.

Todd Phillips‘ sequel was officially released in theaters on October 4, but despite expectations,
it bombed, raking in just under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving
the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history.

Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka Harley
Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the Joker – a role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake
of the standing ovation it received at the Venice Film Festival last month.

‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response
it received from critics before it premiered,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com. 

‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect
for the DC comics fan base.’

‘She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially
since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar.

‘She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final
film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she
wants to audition. 

‘She’s going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him once a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment for her to
be involved.’

Tarantino was set to create The Movie Critic which would have been his tenth and
final film, but on April 17, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the
project was canceled.

The famed director is now believed to be working up a new project to mark his final cinematic release.

2 flop will just be a small blip in her career, after the film received a
D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic book movie. 

Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also received terrible reviews —
holds the higher score of C+.

Joker notably opened with $96.2 million on its theater release
in 2019 and eventually took a little over $1 billion in the global box office. 

The first movie – which was also directed by Phillips – had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However,
the budget more than doubled to around $200 million for Folie À
Deux. 

The sequel screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per
Deadline.   

It had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but the number drastically
dropped amid mixed reviews before release. 

Audiences have since shared their opinions on the sequel, which features multiple musical sequences. 

‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this,’ wrote one on X.
‘What happened to the script?’

Another user added: ‘Stop making sequels as musicals
if the original wasn’t a musical.’ 

An insider told DailyMail.com: ‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is
shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered’

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ shared a third, along with a monkey staring
out a window. 

One fan branded it ‘bad,’ adding:’ It was pretentious and dull.

Feb 8 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International on Thursday missed estimates
for fourth quarter profit and forecasts for 2024,
with slowing sales of its flagship heated tobacco product
IQOS in particular concerning analysts.

The Marlboro cigarette maker has so far led a transition among tobacco giants towards smoking alternatives,
with IQOS at the core of that effort, consuming the vast majority of over $10 billion PMI has poured into its transformation since
2008.

It said on Thursday that shipments of heated tobacco units grew by 6.1% in the fourth quarter, compared with
18% growth in the third quarter.

Philip Morris added that it expected a further hit to shipments over
the coming year as a result of a ban on flavoured heated tobacco in the European Union.

Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said however IQOS had now surpassed Marlboro in terms of net revenues.

“We are entering 2024 with strong momentum,” he said
in a statement.

Any sustained slowdown in IQOS sales was a problem for Philip Morris given its significance for the business and
the company’s premium relative to peers, analysts
said.

But Mark Giambrone, a portfolio manager at Barrow Hanley, a sub-adviser to American Beacon’s Large Cap Value Fund which invests in PMI, was not too concerned.

IQOS is set to test launch in the United States, the
world’s largest market for smoking alternatives, this year with a full roll-out later.

“When that happens it will be a boon for the stock and for their earnings base,” Giambrone said.

The company’s shares fell 3%, but recovered to stand around 1.6%
lower by 11:20 a.m. ET (1620 GMT).

PMI reported fourth-quarter adjusted profit of $1.36 per share.
Analysts had on average had expected a profit of $1.45.

It expects adjusted annual profit of between $6.32 and $6.44 per share, while analysts were expecting $6.60 per share, LSEG data showed.
