O padre Washington Batista Leite foi afastado da Paróquia do Senhor Bom Jesus, na cidade de Pedra do Indaiá, pela Diocese de Divinópolis após suspeitas de que pároco tenha mantido um relacionamento com uma mulher. O decreto que determina o afastamento foi assinado pelo bispo Dom José Carlos e publicado nesta semana.
A decisão da Diocese ocorreu após, no último dia 2, o sacerdote ter sido visto em um hotel de Nova Serrana com uma moradora do município de Perdigão. Segundo informações, o marido da mulher e o irmão dele vieram a Nova Serrana e flagraram os dois. Após danificarem a porta do estabelecimento, os irmãos foram detidos pela Polícia Militar.
A Diocese informou que o bispo acompanhará de perto as investigações do caso e, até que elas sejam concluídas, o padre permanecerá afastado de suas funções na Igreja.
