A abolição da escravatura no Brasil ocorreu no dia 13 de maio de 1888, por meio da Lei Áurea, assinada pela Princesa Isabel, ato esse sendo o último país a abolir a escravidão moderna, e uma das mais cruéis, já que tal pratica se justificava numa interiorização do humano por causa da sua cor de pele. Contudo, as marcas desta atitude tardia, deixam marcas significativas até hoje. Não estamos falando apenas do racismo, mas de uma estrutura de injustiças.
