A Receita Federal alerta os cidadãos para a existência de páginas fraudulentas na internet que tentam simular o Sistema de Leilão Eletrônico (SLE) oficial da Instituição. Os falsos endereços usam inclusive o logotipo da Receita Federal indevidamente para dar credibilidade ao serviço. Essas páginas, embora visualmente semelhantes à original, são falsas e, portanto, não são fonte confiável de informação.
A Receita Federal esclarece que os leilões de mercadorias apreendidas pela Instituição não são realizados em sites privados. O único canal disponível é o Sistema de Leilão Eletrônico, acessado via site oficial da Receita Federal. O sistema está disponível no Centro Virtual de Atendimento ao Contribuinte (e-CAC) para realização de propostas e lances. Para participar de leilões eletrônicos da Receita Federal é necessário possuir certificado digital.
Importante destacar que o pagamento pelas mercadorias arrematadas em leilão é feito por meio de Documento de Arrecadação de Receitas Federais (Darf) e nunca mediante depósitos ou transferências para contas de terceiros.

Quaisquer outras páginas da internet que utilizem as marcas da Receita Federal e tratem de leilões da Instituição são falsas e podem lesar as pessoas que as acessam.
