Em setembro de 2018 um incêndio no museu Nacional do Brasil destruiu um grande acervo da história do Brasil, e no último dia 29, foi registrado outro incêndio em um dos galpões da Cinemateca Brasileira. Com isso roteiros, arquivos em papel, cópias de filmes e equipamentos antigos que seriam usados na montagem de um museu para contar a história do cinema nacional se foi.
