O governador Romeu Zema (Novo) sancionou a Lei nº 23.789 que recomenda a ampliação do atendimento de fisioterapeutas em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva (UTIs). Segundo o texto, aprovado pela Assembleia Legislativa de Minas Gerais, fica recomendada a presença de profissionais fisioterapeutas nos turnos matutino, vespertino e noturno, num total de 24 horas diárias, no atendimento aos pacientes internados nas UTIs localizadas no estado.
A nova legislação vai além do que determina a Resolução da Diretoria Colegiada (RDC) da Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa), documento que estabelece padrões mínimos para o funcionamento das UTIs, a fim de promover melhores resultados de assistência e maiores índices de recuperação de pacientes.
A função essencial do fisioterapeuta é promover e recuperar as funcionalidades motora e respiratória dos pacientes.
Este profissional realiza uma série de atendimentos clínicos: avaliação, diagnóstico e prescrição fisioterapêutica, monitorização respiratória, ajustes finos de ventilação mecânica, técnicas ventilatórias de expansão pulmonar e de higiene brônquica, reabilitação pulmonar e motora, prevenção de incapacidades e demais consequências do imobilismo.
