A advogada Edilene Lobo tomou posse nesta terça-feira (8) no cargo de ministra substituta do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE). Ela é a primeira mulher negra a assumir uma cadeira no tribunal. A cerimônia de posse foi breve e realizada no gabinete do presidente da Corte, ministro Alexandre de Moraes, como é praxe em posses de substitutos.
A ministra chegou ao cargo após ser indicada pelo presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva para atuar na Corte. A nova ministra é doutora em direito pela PUC Minas e mestra em direito pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Durante a cerimônia, Moraes ressaltou a importância de empossar a primeira mulher negra no tribunal. “É uma grande honra dar posse à primeira ministra negra da história do TSE. Nós conhecemos a competência, a inteligência e o trabalho de Edilene. Hoje, ela se torna um símbolo de respeito à mulher negra”, afirmou o ministro.
O nome de Edilene estava na lista enviada pelo Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) ao presidente Lula para indicação ao cargo. A lista também era formada pelas advogadas Daniela Borges, presidente da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB) da Bahia e Marilda Silveira, que atua na área eleitoral em Brasília.
Conforme a Constituição, cabe ao presidente da República nomear os advogados que compõem o tribunal. O TSE é composto por sete ministros, sendo três do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), dois do Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) e dois advogados com notório saber jurídico, além dos respectivos substitutos.
