Nova Serrana terá mais uma festividade incluída em seu calendário oficial, pois, os vereadores aprovaram nesta terça-feira (26/02), o projeto de Lei de autoria do vereador Maycon Vinícius (Agir), que inclui o evento religioso Cerco de Jericó, promovido anualmente pela Paróquia São Sebastião, dentre as celebrações comemoradas anualmente.
O Cerco de Jericó será realizado no período de 18 de agosto a 29 de setembro.
Conforme o vereador, autor da matéria, a inclusão do evento no Calendário Oficial tem por finalidade reconhecer sua relevância para a comunidade católica e a população em geral, além de incentivar a participação popular e o fortalecimento da identidade religiosa e cultural do município. Ainda na justificativa, foi lembrado a importância da promoção do turismo religioso, considerando o grande fluxo de fiéis e visitantes oriundos de cidades vizinhas durante o período do evento, que estimula o comércio local, tendo em vista a ampliação da demanda por serviços de hospedagem, alimentação e transporte. Também, segundo o parlamentar, a iniciativa valoriza a integração social e a solidariedade comunitária, fomentando a prática da cultura e do lazer saudável, proporcionando à população momentos de reflexão, fé e fortalecimento dos laços familiares e comunitários.
A aprovação da medida garante a visibilidade e o reconhecimento oficial do Cerco de Jericó, bem como possibilita o suporte institucional pelo Poder Público Municipal, respeitadas as normas constitucionais e infraconstitucionais aplicáveis.
A votação do projeto foi acompanhada pelo Padre Bruno Henrique e dezenas de fiéis da Igreja Católica. O projeto foi aprovado por unanimidade.
